This is a notice for all Woodbury nonprofit leaders: Share your story with us. With Give to the Max Day coming up on Nov. 15—when hundreds of thousands of dollars will flow to our local nonprofits—Woodbury Patch wants to give you an opportunity to share your organization's story and why people should donate to it. Also, this is the first year GiveMN is allowing K-12 public schools to fundraise on the site. During Give to the Max Day, public schools will be eligible for prize grants in the form of hourly “Golden Tickets”—an hourly drawing to add $1,000 to a person’s donation—randomly selected from donors who gave during each hour of the event. Your donation to a local nonprofit could go further if you choose to donate through Givemn.org today (Nov. 16) during Give to the Max Day. Many charities have donors who are matching contributions given today, and one randomly chosen donor each hour will have $1,000 added to what they give. Below are a few Woodbury nonprofit organizations that are participating. Click on the headings to visit their pages on the Give to the Max Day website. If you would like to find more local nonprofits, check out the website to search by zip code. The Woodbury school already received $5,831 as of 9 a.m. Wednesday. Several east metro organizations recently cashed in on the grants.
Despite economic downturns and government shutdowns, nonprofits throughout the east metro are smiling—thanks to a $15 million software grant from Microsoft Corp. The United Way of Washington County-East (UWWCE) and 18 partner agencies were awarded the software grant that will increase efficiency and communication, and in turn, help the clients they serve. “It’s big,” said Marna Canterbury, executive director of United Way of Washington County-East. “This collaborative grant is a huge infusion of support for United Way and partners serving Washington County. We are so grateful to Microsoft for working with United Way to support essential services in our community through this amazing investment.” At a time when community needs are growing …
