Osaka Now Open at Woodbury Lakes

The Japanese restaurant features a sushi bar and a dozen hibachi tables.

Osaka Sushi and Hibachi is now open at Woodbury Lakes. Located near the Tamarack Road entrance to Woodbury Lakes, the restaurant opened Tuesday, May 7. It’s at 9000 Hudson Road, suite 622. Behind the main restaurant area of Osaka, formerly Kenichi Japanese and Sushi, are 12 hibachi tables in a large open room. People don’t need reservations to see the show from the teppanyaki chefs, but they are recommended, Lin said. There is also a sushi bar, and Osaka has a full liquor selection. The menu is listed on its website. The patio space will likely be utilized within a few weeks, Lin said. The Woodbury location is the eighth in Minnesota for Osaka. About 15 employees were hired, and more may be added in the coming months, depending on need, …

Woodbury Cowboy Jack’s to Open Monday

The restaurant was completely renovated and has a number of features unique to Woodbury.

The Woodbury Cowboy Jack’s is set to open Monday, May 6. The space—which has seen several restaurants come and go over the past few years—has been completely renovated. “We tried to bring the After Midnight Group’s flavor to it and we’re really excited about it,” said Chris Diebold, owner. About $1 million was sunk into the renovation, which features 38,000 square feet of old barn wood, two fireplaces, shuffleboard courts and Western décor. The bar was also moved to the other side of the restaurant. “We could have just slapped a coat of paint on it, but that’s not what we do,” Diebold said. Volleyball courts are being installed (teams have already signed up and the leagues are set to begin in June) and there’s also a roulette-like charity-…

Sick of ‘Spring’ Woodbury? Warmer Days (Plus Golf Course Openings) Lie Ahead

Have you been frustrated by the late-season snow? Let us know in the comments section. And feel free to tell us how you satisfied your golf fix so far this year, as well.

Looks like 69, 72… They’re not excellent golf scores—they’re the projected highs for Saturday and Sunday, respectively, in Woodbury. After a seemingly endless winter, the weather is finally poised for a turnaround. Friday should be a bit warmer as well, with temperatures expected to reach 64 under mostly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. Meanwhile, Woodbury golf courses are planning to take advantage of the weather and open this weekend. Dan Moris, head pro at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Woodbury, said the course is hoping to open Saturday. It will be walking-only this weekend, he said, but carts may be allowed on the course as soon as Monday. “If the course dries up by then,” Moris said. It’s the same story at …

The store is located in Tamarack Village.

Torrid, a clothing store for women who wear sizes 12 to 26, officially opened Wednesday in Woodbury’s Tamarack Village. “We’re already doing really, really well,” said Kari Rodriguez, store manager. “The customers seem like they’ve been excited for us to open.” The store sells women’s clothing and shoes and accessories. A grand opening event is set for Saturday, April 27, featuring refreshments, scratch-off coupons and other promotions, Rodriguez said. Torrid is located at 8278 Tamarack Village, suite 314, near Dick's Sporting Goods. There are four other Torrid stores in Minnesota. New Woodbury McDonald’s to Open This Summer

The fast-food empire plans a second restaurant at the Commerce Hill development off Woodbury Drive.

A second McDonald’s in Woodbury is set to open this summer at the Commerce Hill development near SuperTarget. It's expected to be open sometime in July, said Paul Maenner, partner with MW Development. The second McDonald’s is one of several new businesses at the site, where European Wax, Vivie Nails and Great Clips are also planned, developers told Patch last fall. They are expected to open in later this spring. The new McDonald’s follows the fall 2011 reconstruction of the location across from the Valley Creek Mall. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new McDonald's was held Monday.   Like us on Facebook | Follow us on Twitter | Sign up for our free newsletter

Jersey Mike’s Subs to Open in Woodbury Next Week

The new sandwich shop is located between Cold Stone Creamery and Noodles & Company at 7455 Currell Blvd. in Woodbury.

A new sandwich shop featuring a “true East Coast” flavor is set to open in Woodbury. Jersey Mike’s Subs will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, said owner Brian Risch, who lives in Woodbury. “People are unbelievably excited that we’re coming to town,” he said. With meats and cheeses cut after the customer orders, Jersey Mike’s offers a variety of hot and cold subs. The cold sandwiches come in three sizes; two for the hot ones. Want to Try a Tri? Woodbury’s In The Moment Focuses on Triathlon Training

The business partners with Torque Studio Cycle; both opened in January.

Featuring underwater video analysis, specialized exercise routines and, come summer, open-water swimming sessions, a Woodbury business that opened recently focuses on triathlon training. In The Moment opened in January in the same building as Torque Studio Cycle, with which it partners. So far, things are “awesome” at the new studio, said Vahid Sadrzadeh, founder and CEO. Though he swam competitively for 25 years, Sadrzadeh a few years ago lost 75 pounds after he discovered triathlons. “What better way to dedicate my life to people who are in my shoes?” he said. In The Moment has triathlon-training programs for people of all ability levels, Sadrzadeh said. Co-founder and trainer Luis Leonardo has been doing triathlons for 17 years. “All …

Woodbury’s CityWalk Businesses Open During Construction

Sidewalks are torn up but the doors are open.

While work on a building at Woodbury’s CityWalk development progresses, the businesses there are open. “It’s just a nuisance,” said Melissa Fink, co-owner of Wild Child Hair. The sidewalks are torn up as crews fix footings and siding is being replaced on the building at the 10000 block of City Walk Drive. Fink said she feels people driving by assume her hair salon, Quiznos, H&R Block and Waxing the City are closed. Walk-ins have slowed since the work began, she said. Association members at CityWalk last spring filed a lawsuit against developers alleging shoddy workmanship, the Woodbury Bulletin reported. Fink said there have been issues with water seepage at the building. The work is expected to be complete by mid May or mid June, Fink …

Oak Marsh Golf Course in Oakdale to Open This Weekend

It's the latest the course has opened in five years.

Oak Marsh Golf Course in Oakdale is opening for the season on Sunday. Already, more than 200 people have signed up for tee times, said Steve Whillock, general manager and director of golf. Oak Marsh is typically one of the first courses in the area to open each year, Whillock said. Yet the long winter weather delayed the opening a bit, and 2013 is the latest the course has opened in five years, he said. The course typically opens in mid-March, Whillock said. The range at Oak Marsh opened Thursday, and people were taking advantage, Whillock said, even though golfers sometimes had to walk over snow banks. Also, new this year at the Oakdale course is happy hour on Friday nights, starting April 26. Oak Marsh Golf Course is located at 526 …
