The Omaha-based department store chain promises national brand names and community involvement.
It's not often that a brand new department store enters the Twin Cities marketplace, which explains why the Woodbury community is currently buzzing about Gordmans, scheduled to open (March 24*) at Tamarack Village in the former Bed Bath and Beyond location. "Gordmans features everyday savings of up to 60 percent off department and specialty store prices," said Gordman from corporate headquarters in Omaha, Neb. People lined up at the doors on March 1 for opening day at the new SuperTarget.
Apparently, people were excited about the opening of the new SuperTarget in Woodbury. “I’ve opened two SuperTargets before, and I’ve never had a line out the door at 5 p.m. on a Tuesday,” said Mark Tillett, the store team leader. There will be a soft opening starting March 1, and customers will be able to shop there before the grand opening.
Employees at the new SuperTarget in Woodbury are gearing up for a March 6 grand opening. There will be a VIG (Very Important Guest) night March 1, and the public won’t be turned away between then and the official opening, said Mark Tillett, the store team leader. “We’ll be open for business,” he said. Minneapolis-based Target Corp. broke ground on the 180,000-square-foot store over the summer, Tillett said, and the opening is on schedule. As a SuperTarget, the store will offer a full grocery, deli and Starbucks in addition to its traditional department-store wares. The store will also offer expanded health and wellness products, and more health and gluten-free food, Tillett said. The new Woodbury Target will employ 300-400 people, Tillett …

The local grocery stores are way overpriced. I barely even shop there anymore and choose to drive to West St. Paul Super Target or stop at the Super Target along I94 in St. Paul on my way home from work. Also, Super Target does not always have the lowest prices in prescriptions, so I still go to my local Cub for those. There are Super Targets everywhere and I do not believe this ONE store is …   more ›
