Letter: Pam Cunningham is a Unique Candidate for State Representative

Woodbury resident Jerry Palesh voices his support for the Republican.

I don’t get it. Pam Cunningham is the Republican-endorsed candidate for the House of Representatives in District 53A, right? But she drives a Prius, she is on a school board and she works as a nurse for a charity organization. Next you’re going to tell me that the school board was dominated by teacher-endorsed members and she calls her fellow board members friends. With that kind of background, she may be able to work with both Democrats and Republicans and get something positive done in the Legislature. Wow, that would be different, but then Pam Cunningham is a different kind of candidate who doesn’t meet the typical stereotypes. I am impressed by her achievements and I think it is time for something new and refreshing. —Jerry Palesh, …

Cunningham's assertion that Voter ID is a "simple idea" shows a possible inability to understand the impact of legislation. The idea may be "simple" but the implementation and cost would be horrific. Pam please spend time researching this issue: the impact and challenges to implement. Thanks not being willing to shift monies from our schools.   more ›

Letter: Pam Cunningham Works Toward Solutions

Zignegos voice their support for the House District 53A candidate.

We have known Pam Cunningham through church for over two decades. Our children have grown up together. It has been fun watching Pam guide her children to their now-adult pursuits of teacher, arboretum event planner, staff sergeant in the Air Force and college student. Through the years we have shared horseback riding, church picnics, weddings and the like. When our church was facing some challenges, it was decided to start a Parish Council. Pam was a natural selection as chairperson of this group. Despite her busy schedule, Pam stepped up. Instead of complaining about what was wrong, Pam set out to bring the diverse groups together and work toward solutions. The solutions that emerged were made stronger because Pam brought multiple sides …

Run for Minnesota House a Natural Next Step, District 622 Board Member Says

With her second term on the District 622 School Board expiring this year, Pam Cunningham said the time is right to run for the House District 53A seat.

Seeking a seat in the Minnesota Legislature seemed like a natural progression for District 622 School Board member Pam Cunningham. Her current term ending this year, and “I didn’t ever plan to be on the school board forever,” she said. “But I love being engaged in the community and in the politics part of it,” said Cunningham, who recently received the Republican endorsement to run for the House seat in District 53A, which includes the northwest corner of Woodbury, southern Maplewood, Landfall and Oakdale south of 10th Street. Over her years on the school board, Cunningham said she’s learned firsthand how decisions at the state level influence local levels of government. As would be expected, Cunningham said she's interested in education, …
