What I’ve Learned from Open Doors

Today is my last post for Woodbury Patch. It’s time to move on. Forge ahead. See what else the writing world has in store for me.

Can you believe it?! I have written more than 100 columns for Woodbury Patch since its launch in 2010. Each week I have pondered and researched interesting, educational or amusing topics for readers. That’s you. The folks who click, read and share the wanderings of my mind. Today is my last post for Woodbury Patch. It’s time to move on. Forge ahead. See what else the writing world has in store for me. I’ll take with me what I’ve learned from you. That you enjoy reading about: You are an incredibly encouraging bunch. For this, I thank you. Your enthusiastic and regular reading inspires me. I only hope that some of what I’ve written on these pages has inspired you. Writing for Patch has reinforced this wisdom—that walking through open doors …

Editor Gone Fishin’: How to Post Your News and Information on Woodbury Patch

You may notice a little less news on the site while I’m on vacation, but here’s how you all can continue to share information with your neighbors on Woodbury Patch.

First and foremost I would like to wish you all a happy and safe holiday season. I will be taking some time off to spend the holidays with my family, returning to the helm as editor of Woodbury Patch on Christmas Day. You may notice a little less news and information being passed along via Patch during this time, but I would like to explain how you all can continue to share information with your neighbors while I’m gone. If you have news you’d like to share, log in and post it as an announcement using this link. If you have an event you’d like to share, log in and post it as an event using this link. You can also let the Woodbury area know your news by posting a Local Voices column here. We’ve got a great neighborhood photo gallery here on…

Weddings, Meetings, Song and Dance: Woodbury’s Central Park

There’s always something happening at the facility, celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year.

As those involved with its genesis say, the Central Park facility was meant to be a gathering place for Woodbury. And that vision is reflected in its usage. “Central Park is a tremendous success story,” Bob Klatt, parks and recreation director, said in the October city newsletter. “We worked with multiple agencies—Washington County, the YMCA, School District 833 Early Childhood Family Education and the Stonecrest senior housing facility—to ensure the building would attract a large cross-section of the community. We are ecstatic to see so many people visit each day.”        Related: A Sense of Place: 10 Years for Woodbury's Central Park        Related: Central Park/Woodbury Library 10-Year Anniversary Events From youngsters and seniors …

Woodbury Police Investigate One of Their Own... For Dirty Dishes

The case is classified as an "ongoing investigation."

Below are officer comments about a suspicious activity/littering complaint at the Woodbury Public Safety Department filed on Oct. 21. The information comes from an initial complaint report and is apparently an “ongoing investigation.” While performing directed patrol efforts in the public safety break room, I located a frying pan, lid and pancake turner soiled in the sink. It appeared that an unknown public safety employee or volunteer had cooked a hamburger or similar substance and failed to wash their food preparation devices. Investigation revealed that officer Kim Richardson had washed dishes in the sink at about 0945 to 1000 hours today, indicating that the timeframe of the violation was between 1000 and 1300 hours. I washed the food …
