Police: Shooting Suspect Has No Criminal History, No Indication of Mental Health Issues

The Oakdale Police Department held a press conference Tuesday afternoon regarding a shooting that occurred Monday night.

Police are actively investigating a "random" shooting that injured two people and killed a 9-year-old boy. Police arrested an Oakdale man Monday night after receiving a report of gunfire at the 6900 block of Seventh Street. Shortly after, Nhan Lap Tran, 34, was apprehended at the 400 block of Hale Avenue and booked in Washington County Jail on suspicion of  second-degree murder and felony assault. Initial reports indicate that Tran was shooting a handgun at random vehicles and hit four vehicles. Multiple rounds were shot in the area, said Police Chief Bill Sullivan  The shots hit Melissa Aryal and her 9-year-old son, Devin, who was a passenger in the vehicle. They were both transported to Regions Hospital, where Devin was pronounced dead …

This animal loaded his weapon, ( guns don't load up themselves) had every intention of murder, (you can't order a gun to fire on it's own) and went out to find his targets.Thinking & carrying out his PLAN should certainly constitute 1st degree with "intent" to commit murder. Oakdale Shooter Suspect Identified, Boy Killed was Oakdale Elementary Student

An Oakdale man is suspected in the shooting that injured two adults and killed a child Monday evening.

An Oakdale man is being held in Washington County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and assault with a firearm after three people were shot Monday night.  Nhan Lap Tran, 34, was arrested at Fourth Street and Hale Avenue after he allegedly shot at what appears to be random vehicles, according to police.  The shots killed a 9-year-old boy and injured his 34-year-old mother. The Star Tribune identified the boy as Devin Aryal and his mother as Melissa Aryal. Devin was a fourth grader at Oakdale Elementary School.  A third female victim, 68, was found at Sixth Street and Hale Avenue with a gunshot wound to her hand. A church employee reported that a man called the church and was very upset and crying. The man reportedly said, “I want revenge. President Pimpin Charged with Allegedly Whipping Toddler, Assaulting Mother

President Pimpin Austin, 21, was arrested on domestic assault and malicious punishment of a child charges.

An Oakdale man suspected of whipping his 2-year-old son was booked in Washington County Jail last week for another crime involving the boy's mother. Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Hallmark Circle North on Dec. 7 regarding a domestic assault report and possible child abuse. President Pimpin Austin, 21, of Oakdale, allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old Oakdale woman, who is also the mother of Austin's two children. The woman told police that Austin kicked and punched her in the side and punched her in the head. Police saw visible signs of injury, according to the police report. Austin left the residence on foot and police located him walking at 10th Street and Hadley Avenue.  Austin was arrested and taken to Washington County Jail. …
