Former Hill-Murray football coach Mark Mauer, who lived in Woodbury and resigned from his two posts at the school amid prostitution allegations, has agreed to a continuance for dismissal, according to a FOX9 report. That means he will not be convicted as long as he pays $500 in court costs and takes a “Breaking Free” class within the next month and a half, the report says. Mauer was arrested in Fridley in February as part of a two-day police operation at a motel. One of 19 men arrested, he was charged with a misdemeanor, booked at the Anoka County Jail and released. Thomas Allen Houle, 46, of Stillwater, was one of 19 men charged with misdemeanors during the two-day police operation conducted at the LivInn Hotel in Fridley. He is listed as a member of St. Croix Catholic School's Board of Directors.
In addition to the arrest of Woodbury resident—and former Hill-Murray football coach—Mark Mauer in a prostitution sting in Fridley last month, another community leader also faces charges stemming from the police operation. A member of the St. Croix Catholic School’s Board of Directors was also arrested for allegedly soliciting sex from an undercover police officer. Thomas Allen Houle, 46, of Stillwater, was one of 19 men charged with misdemeanors during the two-day police operation conducted at the LivInn Hotel in Fridley. The case remains under investigation. Houle is also listed as being a coach for a youth girls softball team for the St. Paul Catholic Athletic Association. Calls placed to Houle requesting comment were not returned. …

Cheryl Ann Tchida, 50, has been charged with a gross misdemeanor.
The guardian of a developmentally disabled woman has been charged with criminal neglect after she allegedly allowed the 19-year-old to engage in prostitution. Cheryl Ann Tchida, 50, of Woodbury, had been the sole caretaker of the woman since October 2011, according to a Ramsey County criminal complaint. The charge is a gross misdemeanor. The teen told police Tchida dropped her off in July 2012 to “hang out” with a 17-year-old at a Roseville motel and was eventually coerced into having sex with several men, the complaint says. The 19-year-old called Tchida to pick her up that night but she never came. In February 2011 Darnell Steven Cox was charged with promoting prostitution; about a year later he was arrested in a burglary investigation.
A convicted pimp and suspected burglar was recently sentenced in Washington County District Court following two separate incidents in Woodbury. In February 2011, Darnell Steven Cox, 21, of St. Paul, was hit with felony prostitution charges after he coerced a Woodbury woman into working for him as a prostitute through the online classified service Craigslist. About a year later, Cox and another man were arrested in Woodbury on burglary charges. Now Cox has been sentenced on both counts. On the charge of promoting prostitution, Cox got seven years of probation and 136 days in jail, along with other conditions. A 52-year-old Woodbury man was sentenced in federal court today, Jan. 13, for the sex trafficking of a 15-year-old girl and interstate transportation of an adult for purposes of prostitution. In August, Stevon Warren, 52, was convicted of one count of sex trafficking of a minor and one count of interstate transportation to engage in prostitution. U.S. District Court Judge Patrick J. Schiltz on Friday sentenced Warren to 11 years in prison for the crimes, pursuant to the Mann Act, according to a release from the Minnesota District of the U.S. Attorney’s Office. I see that the City of Woodbury has jumped on the massage therapy licensing bandwagon, thinking it is going to solve prostitution problems that occur within city limits. This will not solve the problem. I sympathize with the plight of the children and women who are forced into slavery through the sex trades. It is awful. Women who are fooled into thinking their life will get better if they come to America, become beaten down and can’t get out. There are more people in slavery today than any other time in history. But the fact remains that there will not be a dent placed in the world’s oldest profession via a massage therapy licensing ordinance in Woodbury.
