Woodbury Encourages Residents to Sign Up for Code Red Emergency Alerts

People can sign up for the telephone notifications through the city’s website.

As Woodbury officials discussed Wednesday the powers of the mayor and city council and coordination plans during a civic emergency, it also served a reminder that residents can sign up for alerts about such situations. Since 2011 the city has offered the Code Red service, which can go citywide or to people within a specific geographical area, said Mike Richardson, Woodbury emergency services commander. It was used six times last year, he said. For example, it was used in one neighborhood about a missing person, once about a gas leak, and another time to tell residents who live along the Woodbury Days parade route that floats and bands would be coming through. Police: Shooting Suspect Has No Criminal History, No Indication of Mental Health Issues

The Oakdale Police Department held a press conference Tuesday afternoon regarding a shooting that occurred Monday night.

Police are actively investigating a "random" shooting that injured two people and killed a 9-year-old boy. Police arrested an Oakdale man Monday night after receiving a report of gunfire at the 6900 block of Seventh Street. Shortly after, Nhan Lap Tran, 34, was apprehended at the 400 block of Hale Avenue and booked in Washington County Jail on suspicion of  second-degree murder and felony assault. Initial reports indicate that Tran was shooting a handgun at random vehicles and hit four vehicles. Multiple rounds were shot in the area, said Police Chief Bill Sullivan  The shots hit Melissa Aryal and her 9-year-old son, Devin, who was a passenger in the vehicle. This animal loaded his weapon, ( guns don't load up themselves) had every intention of murder, (you can't order a gun to fire on it's own) and went out to find his targets.Thinking & carrying out his PLAN should certainly constitute 1st degree with "intent" to commit murder. Oakdale Shooter Suspect Identified, Boy Killed was Oakdale Elementary Student

An Oakdale man is suspected in the shooting that injured two adults and killed a child Monday evening.

An Oakdale man is being held in Washington County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and assault with a firearm after three people were shot Monday night.  Nhan Lap Tran, 34, was arrested at Fourth Street and Hale Avenue after he allegedly shot at what appears to be random vehicles, according to police.  The shots killed a 9-year-old boy and injured his 34-year-old mother. The Star Tribune identified the boy as Devin Aryal and his mother as Melissa Aryal. Devin was a fourth grader at Oakdale Elementary School.  A third female victim, 68, was found at Sixth Street and Hale Avenue with a gunshot wound to her hand. A church employee reported that a man called the church and was very upset and crying. The man reportedly said, “I want revenge. Oakdale police apprehended the suspect who allegedly shot at two different vehicles Monday evening, injuring two people and killing a 9-year-old child.

Oakdale police apprehended the suspect who allegedly shot at two different vehicles Monday evening, injuring two people and killing a 9-year-old boy. Police received the initial 911 call at 6:10 p.m. The suspect shot at two vehicles off of Seventh Street and Hadley Avenue.   "This individual for no apparent reason began shooting," said Capt. Jack Kettler of the Oakdale Police Department.  Nhan Tran, 34, of Oakdale, was apprehended at Fourth Street and Hale Avenue and brought into custody at Washington County Jail, according to jail records. North St. Paul Man Charged with Assault, Fleeing Police after Courtroom Ruckus

A 20-year-old North St. Paul man allegedly punched one sheriff's deputy and threw a chair at another in the Washington County Courthouse before breaking free and fleeing across Highway 36. He was eventually arrested and charged with felony assault.

A 20-year old North St. Paul man faces felony assault charges after he allegedly threw a fit in a Washington County courtroom after police attempted to take him into custody on a mental health order. Eric Paul Woodford was charged by the Washington County Attorney’s Office with third-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree assault of a police officer, obstructing the legal process and fleeing. According to court documents: Two Ramsey County sheriff's deputies on Jan. 3 were at the Washington County Government Center to take Woodford into custody when he allegedly told the officers he did not want to go to the hospital. President Pimpin Charged with Allegedly Whipping Toddler, Assaulting Mother

President Pimpin Austin, 21, was arrested on domestic assault and malicious punishment of a child charges.

An Oakdale man suspected of whipping his 2-year-old son was booked in Washington County Jail last week for another crime involving the boy's mother. Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Hallmark Circle North on Dec. 7 regarding a domestic assault report and possible child abuse. President Pimpin Austin, 21, of Oakdale, allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old Oakdale woman, who is also the mother of Austin's two children. The woman told police that Austin kicked and punched her in the side and punched her in the head. Police saw visible signs of injury, according to the police report. Austin left the residence on foot and police located him walking at 10th Street and Hadley Avenue.  Austin was arrested and taken to Washington County Jail. …

He has been seen at various retail stores seeking money.

He identifies himself as a Jimmy John’s driver who has run out of gas. He is wearing a Jimmy John’s sweatshirt and hat. He was not recognized by the staff at the Woodbury Jimmy Johns. Started with the idea of getting residents more engaged with the city, the Woodbury Community Foundation’s annual Citizens’ Academy is set to return for the fourth year. “It’s a lot of fun,” said Alisa Rabin Bell, executive director of the Woodbury Community Foundation. “It’s a really interesting opportunity for a behind the scenes tour of Woodbury.” People can apply to be part of the free series starting Dec. 1. Woodbury Police Investigate One of Their Own... For Dirty Dishes

The case is classified as an "ongoing investigation."

Below are officer comments about a suspicious activity/littering complaint at the Woodbury Public Safety Department filed on Oct. 21. The information comes from an initial complaint report and is apparently an “ongoing investigation.” While performing directed patrol efforts in the public safety break room, I located a frying pan, lid and pancake turner soiled in the sink. It appeared that an unknown public safety employee or volunteer had cooked a hamburger or similar substance and failed to wash their food preparation devices. Investigation revealed that officer Kim Richardson had washed dishes in the sink at about 0945 to 1000 hours today, indicating that the timeframe of the violation was between 1000 and 1300 hours. Man Sent to Prison for Covering Woodbury Woman's Eyes While She Drove Through Stillwater

A 24-year-old St. Paul man was sent to prison after he grabbed a Woodbury woman by the neck in March and then covered her eyes while she was driving through the Stillwater area.

A 24-year-old St. Paul man was convicted of felony domestic violence charges after he grabbed a Woodbury woman by the neck in March and then covered her eyes while she was driving through the Stillwater area. The bizarre and seemingly frightening incident came to an end with the pregnant woman driving in circles through the parking lot of the Washington County Law Enforcement Center while honking her vehicle’s horn. Romeo Orlando Kerzel Davis fled the scene and was later arrested while trying to enter a condo at the Sunnyside Marina. Davis was charged by the Washington County Attorney’s Office with felony domestic assault and a violation of a no-contact order stemming from a March 21 incident in Woodbury.
