Woodbury Punch Pizza Update: Opening Date Pushed Back

The new pizza shop is going in at Woodbury’s City Centre.

Construction at the site of a new Punch Pizza in Woodbury is expected to begin in the next week or so. The original opening date was slated for late June or early July, but the company is now shooting for early September. The process “to get everything worked out with the site” took longer than anticipated, according to Jenny Nyquist, senior manager. “But we are excited to finally get construction started,” she told Patch. Punch Pizza also had to provide the city with additional information on how its wood-fire ovens work, she said. Punch’s Neapolitan pizzas cook in an 800-degree wood-fire oven and come out in 90 seconds. It will be located in the same building as FedEx/Kinkos at the northwest corner of Radio Drive and Valley Creek Road. …

When are Punch Pizza, Cowboy Jack’s Opening in Woodbury?

Councilwoman Amy Scoggins asked owners Wednesday night as the city approved liquor licenses for both establishments.

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday swiftly approved liquor licenses for three establishments. And Councilwoman Amy Scoggins put owners of Punch Pizza and Cowboy Jack’s on the spot, asking when they plan to open the new restaurants in Woodbury. John Puckett, co-owner of Punch, told the council from the audience that he hopes to have the Woodbury location open by July. Punch Pizza plans to open in the same building as FedEx in Woodbury’s City Centre. Meanwhile, Cowboy Jack’s owners said they’re shooting for a late-April opening. It’s going in at the former Woody’s Roadhouse/Throwback’s space off Woodlane Drive. Liquor Licenses for Cowboy Jack’s, Punch Pizza, Plus Bielenberg Contracts: Woodbury Council Preview

The Woodbury City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13.

Punch Pizza is still shooting for a June opening, and work on its new Woodbury location will likely begin in about a month, a manager told Patch on Monday. Punch is one of three businesses that have liquor license applications coming before the Woodbury City Council on Wednesday. The others are the Tavern Grill and Cowboy Jack’s. Punch Pizza is planning to open in part of the FedEx building at 8310 City Centre Drive. The shipping company will downsize its Woodbury location to accommodate the new restaurant. The Tavern Grill opened in early June 2012 in the former Aperitif space off Tamarack Road and Bielenberg Drive. A change in operations/ownership is necessitating the new license. Community Development Director Dwight Picha provided the Woodbury City Council with the latest news this week.

Community Development Director Dwight Picha on Wednesday ran down the latest development and business updates for the Woodbury City Council. Here are the updates from previous Patch posts and Picha, who is also the 2012 Woodbury Citizen of the Year. Eagle Brook Church has applied for a building permit for a new church near the intersection of Settlers Ridge Parkway and Brookview Road. The church hopes to start work this spring. Updated: Punch Pizza Coming to Woodbury

Punch Pizza will arrive in Woodbury this spring. The wood-fire pizza shop posted a note on its Facebook page saying it has signed a lease to open the eighth Punch Pizza in Woodbury. It's expected to open in June 2013. The post was accompanied by the city’s logo. It will be located in the same building as FedEx/Kinkos at the northwest corner of Radio Drive and Valley Creek Road, said Jenny Nyquist, senior manager.
