The former Throwbacks location has closed, according to the Woody’s website.
Just months after it reopened with a new concept but some of the same themes, Woody’s Roadhouse has closed, according to neighbors and its website. Woody’s was formerly Throwbacks, and under the change looked to become more of a restaurant than a bar. The website does not say the reason why it closed. The Woodbury restaurant has opened things up and completely remodeled the space.
Georgia Schellhaass was at the Woodbury Green Mill on Thursday to gather with some of her 3M coworkers. “I was amazed when I walked in,” she said. Green Mill has completed a major remodeling and reopened in early December 2011 after being closed since October last year. Nearly every aspect of the restaurant has been updated, from the booths and entrance to the bar and patio. Word has been spreading about the new “chic” space, said general manager Natasha Nelson. “It’s just like getting a really nice facelift,” Nelson said. “And I think people have really been impressed. It’s a cool place to hang out.” The space is brighter and more modern, said manager Lisa Maldonado. “We wanted a more open feel to the restaurant,” she said. Also new are …

The long-anticipated burger joint opened in Oakdale on Friday.
Oakdale’s newest restaurant—Five Guys Burgers and Fries—held its ribbon cutting and grand opening Friday. “A lot of people are excited,” said Oakdale Mayor Carmen Sarrack. “This is a great addition to the city.” Plenty of people in Woobury have also asked about the new burger joint, which marks the fourth Five Guys restaurant in the Twin Cities. And more are planned, according to a press release. District manager Ryan Dussault said they chose the spot in Oakdale—near Baja Sol Tortilla Grill in Oakdale Village—because of the opportunity for synergy with the other businesses in the area. “We love the visibility,” he said. “It’s a beautiful building … and we wanted to get on the east side.” The Oakdale restaurant is the first Twin Cities …

The new restaurant and its Texas-style barbecue is set to open in the former Broadway Pizza space on Queens Drive.
A taste of Texas is coming to Woodbury. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is set to open Monday, Dec. 19, co-owners Dale Mueller and Cory Sessions confirmed to Patch on Thursday afternoon, when they were getting ready for a friends and family night at the new restaurant. The barbecue joint is opening in the former Broadway Pizza location on Queens Drive. Among the signature food at Dickey’s is the cut-to-order Texas chopped brisket, and “truly southern sides” that include fried okra and jalapeño beans, along with staples such as potato salad and coleslaw, Sessions said. Since the sign went up at Dickey’s, “people have been shaking the doorknob,” Mueller said. “We think this is going to be a booming spot,” he said. The restaurant will have a casual …

I think this is a good idea. Alcohol aside, its obvious Bielenburg needs a revamp, and this is just the thing. Why does it matter whether there's alcohol there or not? It's as if as soon as you think of a beer, everyone wants to scream "alcoholic!!!" at you. One of the many reasons I'm glad I moved here to Germany.   more ›
