And a few of you have asked about that work at the corner of Valley Creek Road and Settlers Ridge Parkway. It’s a new well, No. 18 for Woodbury, and they’re doing blasting. On Tuesday we asked what you think should be done with the former State Farm building. Be sure to check out the comments. District 833 also opted not to increase walking distances and will continue to examine other options to close a transportation budget shortfall.
The District 833 School Board on Thursday chose not to alter school start times as officials looked to close a nearly $1 million gap in the South Washington County Schools transportation budget. The board also voted against changing the walking distances currently in place, and there will also be no implementation of transportation fees for the coming school year, according to the district’s website. South Washington County Schools officials want to replace buses in the district’s fleet and maintain its transportation fund balance. But that budget is about $940,000 short of being able to do so, and District 833 is looking at several options to cover the costs, including: Staff won’t likely make a recommendation regarding the options, said Mike Vogel, assistant to the superintendent for operations. Instead, the district is seeking feedback from residents through an online survey and encouraging people to share their thoughts at the April 26 school board meeting. Find the survey online at the District 833 website (available through April 30). The options are also outlined in detail on the site. The transportation budget could get a $150,…
