Owner of Woodbury’s Sole Mio Earns Chef of the Year Award

Angelo Montes was recently honored with the award from the American Culinary Federation.

Angelo Montes, owner of Sole Mio Ristorante in Woodbury, recently earned the 2012 Chef of the Year award from the American Culinary Federation. “It’s a big deal for chefs,” Montes told Patch. Brunch Options Expand in Woodbury

Sole Mio to begin offering brunch this Sunday, Lakes Tavern started it up last weekend.

Before he opened Sole Mio Ristorante, Woodbury resident Angelo Montes won several awards for brunch as a chef at other restaurants. “The place I was before was filled every Sunday,” he said. Now, Montes is bringing brunch to Woodbury. Sole Mio will begin offering brunch ($15 adults, $7 kids 5-12, free for children 4 and younger) on Sundays starting Jan. 20. Meanwhile, Lakes Tavern & Grill started its own Sunday brunch on Jan. 13. The buffet brunch at Sole Mio, which opened at the Valley Creek Mall in October 2012, will feature an “American station” and an “Italian station,” Montes said. New Restaurant: Sole Mio Opens in Woodbury

The Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Italian restaurant at the Valley Creek Mall.

Angelo Montes said he was emotional and excited. “I’m ready to serve the community,” he said. Sole Mio Ristorante, a new Italian restaurant, opened today, Monday, Oct. 15, at the Valley Creek Mall in Woodbury. It has been a long and sometimes difficult construction process for Montes, owner and chef, but he said he’s pleased with the space. “The restaurant turned out beautiful,” Montes said before a Woodbury Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting. Hundreds of people came for the soft-opening events over the weekend, Montes said. “The food was phenomenal—everybody said it was great,” he said, adding that staff also performed well. New Italian Restaurant in Woodbury Almost Ready

The owner posted an announcement on his Facebook page saying the opening date is “90.235698” percent set.

Sole Mio, a new Italian restaurant going in at Woodbury’s Valley Creek Mall, should be open by early October. On the Sole Mio Ristorante Facebook page, the owner, Angelo Montes, said the grand opening will likely be on Oct. 8. To be exact, he said he’s “90.235698” sure that will be the day, according to the post. Montes said he would post additional information in the coming days. Roadwork Ahead of Schedule, Sole Mio Liquor License OK’d

A roundup of items from Wednesday night’s Woodbury City Council meeting.

In a brief meeting otherwise devoted to zoning changes, the Woodbury City Council heard about summer roadwork projects and approved a liquor license for a new Italian restaurant. Summer council meetings often feature an update on roadwork projects from Public Works Director David Jessup. He had good news to report Wednesday—construction in the Windwood and Colby Lake neighborhoods is ahead of schedule. Also, Colby Lake Drive near Valley Creek Road is set to open back up by July 4, Jessup said. Jessup also reminded the council and residents that the major Valley Creek Road rehab project is expected to begin July 16 or soon thereafter.
