Washington County Board Members Sworn In

Stillwater's Gary Kriesel was re-elected to serve as representative of District 3. Lisa Weik was selected as this year's board chair.

Four members of the Washington County Board of Commissioners were sworn in to office Tuesday after being elected or re-elected in November 2012. Commissioners Gary Kriesel (District 3) and Lisa Weik (District 5) were both re-elected to the board. Weik was selected to serve as board chair in 2013. Commissioner Autumn Lehrke (District 4) will serve as Vice Chair for 2013. Bearth Has 'A Lot to Learn,' Pulkrabek Unsure of Future Plans

Ted Bearth will be sworn in on Jan. 8, 2012; Bill Pulkrabek plans for the future.

After 13 years, there will be a new county commissioner representing District 2 of Washington County.  Longtime Washington County Commissioner Bill Pulkrabek was defeated by challenger Ted Bearth—the results came in early Wednesday morning, with Bearth taking 52 percent of the vote to 47 percent for Pulkrabek. Pulkrabek, 42, has served as a county commissioner since 1999. Before that he was the mayor of Oakdale from 1995 to 1998, a title he received in his mid-20s. Bearth said he has been encouraged to run for the Washington County Board since he first retired from the city council in 2004, but he often dismissed the idea and opted for retirement instead.  "It finally got to the point where I was unhappy with what we got so I decided I …

Bearth Looks to Unseat Pulkrabek on County Board

Ted Bearth hopes to represent the northwest corner of Woodbury on the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

Oakdale resident Ted Bearth has announced he’ll challenge Washington County Commissioner Bill Pulkrabek this fall for the District 2 board seat, which the northwest corner of Woodbury along with Oakdale and Landfall. Bearth was first elected to the Oakdale City Council in 1974, and has spent 26 years as either a city council member or mayor. He’s currently the co-chair of the annual Oakdale Summerfest.
