Woodbury’s Woodwinds Again Named a Top 100 Hospital in U.S.

The Woodbury health facility also earned a 2013 Everest Award.

They did it again. Woodwinds Health Campus has been named one of the top 100 hospitals in the U.S. by Truven Health Analytics (formerly known as the health business of Thomson Reuters). This is the third time Woodwinds has earned the award, according to a release from HealthEast, whose hospitals include Woodwinds, St. John’s and St. Joseph’s. Woodwinds also reached benchmarks for highest rate of improvement over five years, meaning it also earned a 2013 Everest Award. “We’re honored once again to be recognized as a 100 Top Hospital and receive the Everest Award for the first time,” Scott North, senior vice president and president of acute-care hospitals at HealthEast, said in the release. “For us at Woodwinds, it started with connecting …

Poll: Should Companies Take Positions on Social Issues?

Thomson Reuters and General Mills are among the Minnesota companies taking a stand against the Minnesota marriage amendment. What do you think?

Should businesses stay out of politics, or should they feel perfectly comfortable taking stands on controversial issues? That's the question a lot of Minnesotans are debating in the wake of last week's decision by Thomson Reuters, which operates a large legal-publishing division in Eagan, to oppose the constitutional marriage amendment on this fall's Minnesota ballot. Thomson Reuters isn't the first company to take such a step. A similar annoucement by General Mills prompted talk of a boycott against the famed Golden Valley food company, as well as expressions of support from amendment opponents. 9 months andstill going strong, have not purchased one General Mills, Pillsbury, Green Giant, El Paso or any other related GMI product. My opinion is this. Companies are in business to provide a product. Publicly owned companies are in business to provide a return to shareholders. Woodwinds Named a Top 100 Hospital in the U.S.

Thomson Reuters once again recognizes the Woodbury health campus.

Woodwinds Health Campus recently received the 100 Top Hospital Award for 2012 from Thomson Reuters. Woodwinds, part of the HealthEast Care System, earned the honor based on “its exceptional performance in patient safety, clinical quality, patient satisfaction and cost-effectiveness,” according to a release. “Being named a 100 Top Hospital is what happens when you have impassioned staff who are committed to doing what is right for patients and families,” Tom Schmitt, VP/CEO of Woodwinds, said in a statement. “They work as a team to ensure an outstanding experience—in both clinical care and the quality of service provided at Woodwinds.”  Woodwinds—known for its birth center, alternative therapy options and holistic healing environment—…
