The Washington County Board on Tuesday accepted the donation.
A group of Washington County Library supporters were looking to raise $10,000 to buy 2,012 books for the library system in 2012. The campaign was a success, and Washington County Library Partners on Tuesday donated $14,700 to the Washington County Library. Ken Stone, president of the board of director of the foundation, presented to the gift to the Washinington County Board. Through his Woodbury Patch blog, Stone tracked the nonprofit’s progress: Washington County Library Partners’ goal was to raise enough money for the purchase of 2,012 large-print and children's books in 2012. Dear Woodbury voters, I want to express my sincere appreciation to my fellow Woodbury residents who re-elected me to the county board on Nov. 6. I am humbled by the strong show of support I received in the General Election in my newly re-drawn commissioner district and consider it an honor and privilege to represent you. I also appreciate the time and efforts of my campaign committee for helping with my re-election bid; your steadfast support was critical to my success. I couldn't have done it without your help or without the unwavering support of my husband and family. I want to acknowledge my opponent, Nancy Remakel, for running a clean, issues-based campaign. I’m grateful to have debated relevant issues in public formats for citizens …

The purpose of this letter is to fully endorse and give my whole-hearted support to Nancy Remakel for Washington County District 5 County commissioner. I have been a colleague of Nancy’s for nearly 20 years and she was my mentor during her 37 years as a science teacher for Woodbury schools. As educators, we follow our school district’s Strategic Plan to guide the formation of our lessons so our students can successfully meet course goals and objectives. I am concerned there is no written, formal strategic plan for moving Washington County forward. As a county commissioner, Nancy Remakel will be instrumental in the development of a formal strategic plan so the citizens of Woodbury will be fully informed of the goals and objectives of …

During her short tenure on the Washington County Board, Woodbury resident Lisa Weik has never failed to put the public and taxpayers first. Unlike a lot of "politicians," Lisa is not afraid to tell you where she stands on important issues that affect our community. In an uncertain housing market and lingering recession, I'm grateful for leaders like Lisa who use business acumen from private-sector experience to set sound public policy and deliver responsible budgeting. Since in office, Commissioner Lisa Weik has kept the tax levy flat for three straight years, created a partnership with Greater MSP to attract businesses to locate in Woodbury to grow the tax base, and has saved taxpayers $1 million over the next 10 years by opposing the …

I am writing to offer my support for the re-election of Washington County Commissioner Lisa Weik for District 5. I was honored to have been elected twice from District 5 and served as county commissioner on the Washington County Board in the 1990s. As a former board member, I continue to pay close attention to the issues facing our county and the decisions our commissioners make. On numerous occasions I have had the pleasure of discussing county board agenda items with Commissioner Weik. I have found her to be knowledgeable, understanding and creative in finding workable solutions. She is not afraid to fight for what she believes is right. Lisa Weik has served this year as vice chair of the Washington County Board, and with your help and …

Do you like living in Woodbury? Do you enjoy the trails, green space, parks, and other recreational amenities? Are you satisfied with the city planning and orderly growth? Do you feel that the streets and other infrastructure are well maintained? If so, please join us in voting for Nancy Remakel as District 5 County Commissioner to represent our citizens on the Washington County Board. She has well-served the citizens of Woodbury as City Council member, chair of Woodbury Planning Commission, chair of roadway maintenance task force, and Woodbury Parks Commission member. As such, Nancy has significantly contributed to the quality of life we enjoy here in Woodbury—and she will continue to contribute and work for our community as District 5 …

My wife Michele and I have raised four children while living in Woodbury since 1992. As election time approaches every two years, we make a mental list of the things we believe would make Woodbury a better place in which to live. We then compare our list with the public statements of candidates for various city and county elections. In this year’s election cycle, Nancy Remakel, who is challenging Lisa Weik the incumbent Washington County commissioner in District 5, has stated that she would raise county taxes to develop public transit along the I-94 corridor and to improve the county library system. These initiatives, according to Ms. Remakle, would help to stimulate economic development within the county. (Editor’s note: Remakel told …

Nancy Remakel has a wide range of experience and expertise that will serve the citizens of Washington County when she is elected as county commissioner. She has been actively involved in the community, having significant leadership roles on the Woodbury City Council, the Woodbury Planning Commission, the Woodbury Parks Commission and the Washington County Library Board. I have had the privilege of co-chairing many church-related committees with her, and can attest that she is very smart… a good listener… great communicator… who has the innate ability to take information from many sources and get consensus on tough issues. Her decisions are always well-researched and based on sound and critical information. As citizens of Washington …

Wow, Hegberg is out... he was always very nice, but he was a RINO (republican in name only)... he'd always hang out by the republican booth at the WC fair, talk about how he was a conservative, and then he'd vote right along with Weik... As chair he's primarily to blame for the $157,000,000 debt burdan we have.... I hope Miron can be more transparent and issue in common sense. We'll miss …   more ›
