New Woodbury McDonald’s to Open This Summer

The fast-food empire plans a second restaurant at the Commerce Hill development off Woodbury Drive.

A second McDonald’s in Woodbury is set to open this summer at the Commerce Hill development near SuperTarget. It's expected to be open sometime in July, said Paul Maenner, partner with MW Development. The second McDonald’s is one of several new businesses at the site, where European Wax, Vivie Nails and Great Clips are also planned, developers told Patch last fall. They are expected to open in later this spring. The new McDonald’s follows the fall 2011 reconstruction of the location across from the Valley Creek Mall. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new McDonald's was held Monday.   Like us on Facebook | Follow us on Twitter | Sign up for our free newsletter

This just go to show what hard work, …   more ›

Girl Scout Cookie Time Nears in Woodbury

Woodbury is part of the River Valleys Girl Scout Council, which ranks No. 1 in cookie sales though it’s eighth in membership.

Julie Sexton’s favorite? “Thin Mints, by far.” Girl Scout cookies go on sale Feb. 2, and about 600 girls from the Woodbury area will soon be going door to door, setting up booths, and learning business and interpersonal skills, said Sexton, Woodbury Service Unit cookie manager. “What I really like about the Girl Scout cookie program is it teaches girls responsibility and accountability for themselves as well as for the troop,” she said. “For example, my troop of Juniors (currently in fifth grade) determined their own goals, the troop goal, and the reward for hitting the troop goal each year. I am proud to say they have worked hard and have reached their goal every year.” After introducing a new lemon cookie (Savannah Smiles) last year for …
