When are Punch Pizza, Cowboy Jack’s Opening in Woodbury?

Councilwoman Amy Scoggins asked owners Wednesday night as the city approved liquor licenses for both establishments.

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday swiftly approved liquor licenses for three establishments. And Councilwoman Amy Scoggins put owners of Punch Pizza and Cowboy Jack’s on the spot, asking when they plan to open the new restaurants in Woodbury. John Puckett, co-owner of Punch, told the council from the audience that he hopes to have the Woodbury location open by July. Punch Pizza plans to open in the same building as FedEx in Woodbury’s City Centre. Meanwhile, Cowboy Jack’s owners said they’re shooting for a late-April opening. It’s going in at the former Woody’s Roadhouse/Throwback’s space off Woodlane Drive. Councilman Paul Rebholz also thanked Cowboy Jack’s owners for their inclusion of lawful gambling to benefit the Woodbury …

Liquor Licenses for Cowboy Jack’s, Punch Pizza, Plus Bielenberg Contracts: Woodbury Council Preview

The Woodbury City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13.

Punch Pizza is still shooting for a June opening, and work on its new Woodbury location will likely begin in about a month, a manager told Patch on Monday. Punch is one of three businesses that have liquor license applications coming before the Woodbury City Council on Wednesday. The others are the Tavern Grill and Cowboy Jack’s. Punch Pizza is planning to open in part of the FedEx building at 8310 City Centre Drive. The shipping company will downsize its Woodbury location to accommodate the new restaurant. The Tavern Grill opened in early June 2012 in the former Aperitif space off Tamarack Road and Bielenberg Drive. A change in operations/ownership is necessitating the new license. Cowboy Jack’s, meanwhile, is set to open in the former …

Million-Dollar Homes in Woodbury? Sure. But ‘Who Knows How Crazy Somebody Wants to Go’

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday approved several measures that move the Autumn Ridge development forward.

Mike Rygh, of Custom One Homes, says most houses in a new Woodbury development will be in the $800,000 to $900,000 range. Some custom-built Autumn Ridge homes could cost much more. “Who knows how crazy somebody wants to go,” Rygh said, adding that pools, hobby farm-like outbuildings and extensive “man caves” would be likely amenities in the new homes. The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved three measures that move the Autumn Ridge development forward. Plans call for 20 homes to be built on a 61-acre parcel at the southwest corner of Radio Drive and Military Road, north of Glen Road. It’s currently farmland. Report: Million-Dollar Homes Planned at Woodbury Development

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday is expected to examine plans for Autumn Ridge, located at the southwest corner of Military Road and Radio Drive.

A developer envisions homes that would range from $700,000 to more than $1 million in the southwest portion of Woodbury, according to a Star Tribune report. The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday is set to discuss plans for Autumn Ridge, a 61.35-acre parcel located at the southwest corner of Military Road and Radio Drive, north of Glen Road. Twenty single-family homes would be built at the site, according to a council memo. Groundbreaking on the first of the houses is expected to begin this spring, Tim Thone, of Thone Property Investments, told the Star Tribune. “Nobody’s really done an estate-type development in Woodbury in more than 25 years,” he told the newspaper. Autumn Ridge would mark the latest phase of development for the area, …

Woodbury Playground Would be State’s Largest for Kids of All Abilities

The Woodbury City Council got a look at drawings for Madison’s Place, which would be built at the Bielenberg Sports Center.

Madison’s Place, a playground for children of all abilities planned at the Bielenberg Sports Center, would be the largest such structure in the state. “It will be fantastic,” said John Slack, Stantec landscape architect, who relayed that information to the Woodbury City Council during a workshop Wednesday. The playground is the brainchild of the Madison Claire Foundation, which is raising funds for its construction. Similar playgrounds have become regional attractions, Slack said. The surface for the playground would be Pebble-Flex, a rubber-like matting that can support wheelchairs and crutches. It’s similar to the surface of Miracle Field, said Bob Klatt, director of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. There are other unique …

‘The Front Door’ for the New Bielenberg Sports Center

The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday examined the exterior plans for the expansion project.

A multi-functional plaza is in the works for the Bielenberg Sports Center expansion project. “It’s really the front door,” said John Slack, landscape architect with Stantec Consulting, who showed the Woodbury City Council drawings of the latest plans during a workshop Wednesday. The area would include trees, seating areas, bike racks and outlets for vendors during events. The plaza was one of several exterior aspects of the project discussed Wednesday. The city plans to raze the Bielenberg Sports Center’s dome this April and begin construction on a new $21.8 million field house and two-story lobby linking the facility with the existing arenas. Council members seemed generally to favor the plans for the plaza, though Councilman Paul Rebholz…

Outdoor Movies in Woodbury? Update on Pleasure Rink for Bielenberg Sports Center Expansion

The Woodbury City Council took a comprehensive look at plans for the exterior of the field house and lobby Wednesday.

A fire pit, colored lights and the potential to show outdoor movies on a wall of the two-story lobby were among the highlights of a presentation on the planned pleasure rink for the Bielenberg Sports Center expansion. “We’re trying to create a cool environment,” City Administrator Clint Gridley said. The Woodbury City Council on Wednesday examined drawings for the exterior of the facility, a $21.8 million structure that will replace the dome and feature a lobby that links the new field house and existing ice arenas. The outdoor rink would be constructed in a way that it could eventually be enclosed, said John Slack, a landscape architect with Santec Consulting. Splash Pad at Bielenberg Gets Lukewarm Reception from Woodbury City Council

The council went over several aspects of the exterior of the planned field house and lobby during a workshop Wednesday night.

A splash pad was discussed as part of a comprehensive look at the exterior for the Bielenberg Sports Center expansion project during a Woodbury City Council workshop Wednesday night. While most aspects of the work—the plaza, outdoor rink and playground for kids of all abilities—were received favorably, the council expressed some concerns about the water feature. The splash pad plans, as detailed by Stantec landscape architect John Slack, call for two areas, one for toddlers and another for older children and adults. It would be located north of the Madison’s Place playground. Councilwoman Julie Ohs has long advocated for the splash pad, saying Wednesday it would make the new facility “more accessible, more inclusive.” “That’s exactly what …
