The Woodbury Community Expo will be held in April, the last major event at the sports center before the dome is razed.
Dave Black has been the ice arena and field house manager at the Bielenberg Sports Center since it was constructed “bolt by bolt, piece by piece” in 1995. The dome has survived 90 mph winds, numerous snowstorms and age, Black said, “but it never has come down.” Yet it will in April, as the city demolishes the dome to make way for a new $21.8 million field house. Before the bubble bursts, the Bielenberg Sports Center will host its last major event: the 2013 Woodbury Community Expo, set for April 6. When it was first built, there were questions about whether Woodbury’s facility—and similar domes in the metro area—would be successful, Black said. “But we had no idea how successful it was going to be,” he said. Black said the sports center has…

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 14 at the Bielenberg Sports Center in Woodbury.
After three years, word has gotten around. The Woodbury Community Expo sold out its available booth space for the first time this year, according to Kim Snyder with the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event. “We feel really good about that,” she said. The third annual event is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, at the Bielenberg Sports Center. It is free to attend. The Woodbury Community Expo will once again feature dozens of exhibitors, live music, prize raffles, activities and plenty of spots to grab a bite. But chamber officials have been looking to draw a younger crowd this year, Snyder said, thus the Minnesota National Guard climbing wall and demonstrations from Mad Science, among other things. “For the…

The annual event is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, at the Bielenberg Sports Center.
The Woodbury Community Expo is typically a flurry of activity. This year, that flurry will include cash. The Woodbury Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday that the April 14 event will feature a cash grab—a giant box in which people try to collect as much money as they can while it blows around inside. (There is a time limit and people will have to wear goggles.) It’s the latest addition to the expo, which will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, at the Bielenberg Sports Center. All adults will receive three tickets for the three cash grabs throughout the day, said Kim Snyder, the Woodbury Chamber’s membership director. Other items of note at this year’s event, according to a release from the chamber: Mad Science, Bruce the …
