Volunteer Meeting for Woodbury Days

This year’s festival is set for Aug. 23-25.

Want to volunteer at Woodbury Days? An informational open house is scheduled for 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Woodbury Estates Assisted Living, 2825 Woodlane Drive, near Woodbury High School. The Woodbury Days Council—the nonprofit all-volunteer organization that plans Woodbury Days—is looking for “energetic, community-minded people,” to help plan this year’s event, according to a release. This year’s festival is set for Aug. 23-25. “Whether you are a business owner in the community or a resident your expertise and enthusiasm is what we need,” reads part of the release. There are different levels of commitment available: working one shift at the event, helping periodically during the year as needed or being on the council and planning …

How to Get Involved in Woodbury Days

Informational meetings are planned for the city’s biggest civic celebration.

If the snow has you dreaming of warmer days ahead, a taste of summer is coming up. Woodbury Days planners announced Thursday three informational meetings for area businesses and organizations. Those interested the Woodbury Days business fair, parade, Taste of Woodbury or Button of Savings Program can attend meetings at Woodbury Estates Assisted Living (2825 Woodlane Drive, near Woodbury High School). The meetings are planned for: “Join us for a free meal and learn about all the different opportunities offered at Woodbury Days and how they can greatly benefit your company,” reads the release, which also notes that testimonials from vendors are available on the festival’s website. Woodbury Working on New Special Events Policy, Guide

The city has seen an increasing workload for staff.

Woodbury has had an uptick in events held in town over the past few years. “I think we just have really nice facilities,” said Mary Van Milligen, assistant to the city administrator. But extra events also mean extra work for city staff, and Woodbury is crafting a new special events policy and guide to make things easier for everyone involved. The guide is the backbone of the new policy and outlines insurance information, costs, what services the city will provide, application documents and registration instructions, Van Milligen said. There will also be a new $25 application fee. The guide itself will take part of the load off city staff, which provided more than $50,000 in in-kind work for events in 2012. “We just need to keep better …

The 2012-2013 Woodbury Ambassadors Royal Family was crowned Monday night at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Woodbury. The group has been in existence for more than 25 years. Woodbury Days is Here! Here’s What You Should Know

A quick guide to this year’s events.

Woodbury Days 2012 is upon us. It’s a weekend filled with food, rides, games, runs, bike rides, booths, parade, car show, live music, sports, animals… Whew. So, here’s a rundown of some of the major events and a few details you probably want to know before you head out to Ojibway Park today through Sunday. Firstly, it’s free to attend. Woodbury Days starts with a tennis tournament at 3 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 24. Events continue into the evening, with highlights including martial arts demonstrations, Taste of Woodbury, the petting zoo and bingo tent, along with other attractions. Saturday, Aug. 25, is packed with events—from the 3M Rod & Custom Car Club Car Show to the bike rides (register at Colby Lake Park at 7:30 a.m.) to the nighttime…
