Patch is partnering to give free tickets to local movie screenings.

Can you quote lines from classic movies at will? Are you a font of obscure movie trivia? Do you LOVE going to the movies? How about seeing new movies for free? As part of the promotion of new films opening in the Twin Cities market, Patch is partnering with national movie studios to give away tickets to upcoming screenings before the movies open. Here's the first: On Feb. 7, you have a chance to attend a free advance screening of the Warner Bros. film Beautiful Creatures at 7 p.m. at the Theatres at Mall of America. Two-Year Anniversary for Woodbury Patch

It’s been a joy covering Woodbury.

It was just two short years ago that Woodbury Patch launched the day after Thanksgiving.  Covering Woodbury, meeting people and learning about the city has been a blast, and I’m thankful for all the support I’ve received from the community. I always tell people I went from a newspaper that had been around for more than a century to a brand-new website, and while there have been plenty of challenges along the way, so many of you have embraced Patch and what we’re trying to do. It’s a participatory website, so different from any other news platform out there. It’s your site—I just work here. As folks gathered Thursday for Thanksgiving, I took some time to be thankful for all the positive feedback, those who bought in and how far we’ve come. …

How to Get Your Sports Team Featured on Patch

Here are several ways you can make sure your favorite sports team is highlighted on Patch.

Fall sports will soon be kicking into high gear, and Patch gives you the chance to share every exciting moment with the community. We are looking for athletes, coaches, parents, booster club members and fans who are ready, willing and able to share their team spirit on Patch. News about any team—high school, middle school, rec teams, etc.—is welcome! Here's how you can share news about your sports team: 1. Start a blog about your sports team: Share stats, recaps, photos and/or videos from the game in your own sports blog. Is your favorite team a college or pro team? That's OK too! Discuss the team, coaches and players with other fans in the community. 2. Upload pictures and video of your team to our gallery: Snap an awesome photo at the …

Video: Five Steps to Claiming Your Business Listing on Woodbury Patch

A one-minute video guide to claiming your free business listing on Woodbury Patch.

When Patch launched in Woodbury 15 months ago, a slew of contributors ventured to local businesses to collect information for our directory. The result: Patch Places. Patch Places is the spot to find descriptions, hours, accepted payment methods and more for spots around town. You can even see what your neighbors think of a business before you try it—or write your own review. But local businesses get extra bonuses when they claim their free listing. Owners or managers can sign in and search for their business. Underneath the photos, there is a box with the question: Do you own or manage this location? Claim it! Just click Claim it! and a form will pop up asking for contact information and authorization to claim it. Within a few days, …

Woodbury Patch Marks One-Year Anniversary

Becoming part of the fabric of Woodbury has been a joy.

Today marks the one-year anniversary of Woodbury Patch. It’s been fun, to say the least. In one short year we’ve gained a foothold in Woodbury, bringing you daily news and giving you a chance to interact with your neighbors and share information that’s important to you. Everyone in the city has been very supportive of what we’re trying to do here: become the hub for news and information about Woodbury. As Thanksgiving approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all of you—the Patch community—for your support. If you see me around town, stop and say hello. I love interacting with people and hearing about what’s new in your world. And don’t be shy about calling or emailing, either. Tell your friends about Patch—the …
