Woodbury PD Blotter: Thong Song, Ring Sting, Ladies’ Man Has Warrants

Selected calls to the Woodbury Police Department from March 8-13.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports. A home at the 6000 block of Linden Road was reported burglarized and three men’s rings, a Super 8 projector, 10 neckties and other items were stolen. A resident contacted police after someone stole her phone and posted photos of her in a thong on Facebook. The man she suspected of stealing the phone had left for Chicago, and officers advised her to contact Facebook about removing the photos. A vehicle parked at the 7700 block of Steepleview Road was broken into and several items were taken, including a laptop computer, digital camera, purse, a personnel file and possibly an iPod. Woodbury Business Owner Sentenced In Stolen-Goods Racket

Christopher Allen Janota, 43, must pay more than $750,000 in restitution.

A Woodbury business owner will spend six months in jail and pay $750,000 in restitution following his sentencing in federal court on Tuesday. Christopher Allen Janota, 43, was involved in a stolen-goods scam, according to a release from the Minnesota district of the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Janota’s co-conspirators stole products from retail stores in Minnesota and other states and sold the stolen goods to his Woodbury-based company, according to the release. Janota then sold the merchandise to third parties through the Internet and shipped them via the U.S. mail, the release says. The nine co-conspirators already have pleaded guilty to related charges. The Woodbury Police Department and U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigated the case…
