They Didn't Win the Massive Powerball Jackpot But...

A number of metro-area residents, including one from Woodbury, have pulled down big lottery wins in the last few weeks.

The Minnesota State Lottery in Roseville reported Thursday that two tickets (one in Arizona and Missouri) split the record-setting Powerball jackpot which topped an estimated $587.5 million. "Each Powerball jackpot winning ticket is worth over $293 million," according to Minnesota Lottery officials. "We had one $1,000,000 winner, six $10,000 winners, and 167,311 other winning tickets sold in Minnesota so check your tickets!" Minnesota Lottery officials noted that the state's $1 million winner is from a ticket purchased in Winona County. "Minnesota players set a new record for the Nov. 28 drawing, generating more than $10.9 million in sales," they added. "Retailers earned more than $1.5 million in commissions." Twin Cities Powerball Winning Numbers and Results

With a $580 million prize on the line, Twin Cities residents are eyeing their tickets.

A half billion dollars could be yours in the latest Powerball drawing. In fact, so many people were trying to access the Florida lottery website that the server was slow to respond and appeared down at times shortly after the 11 p.m. drawing. The Minnesota site had no such issue, as seen here.  The $580 million winning Powerball numbers have been selected and people in the Twin Cities metro from St. Michael to Hudson are checking their tickets. The winning Powerball numbers for the Nov. 28, 2012 drawing are 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 and a Powerball number of 6.
