The judge in the case says the tweets are “extremely crude and in almost incomprehensible poor taste.”
A federal grand jury is investigating a man who used Twitter to allegedly threaten Sixth District Congresswoman Michele Bachmann while she was on the presidential campaign trail. The Twitter user allegedly “professed desire to engage in sadomasochistic activities with” Bachmann, according to a 13-page ruling U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth released Thursday. The judge in the case says the tweets are “extremely crude and in almost incomprehensible poor taste.” According to a post on Bring Me the News, the judge said the person responsible would likely not face charges because the messages would not constitute a “true threat” to the congresswoman. Lamberth disclosed the investigation in a 13-page ruling that denied the user’s …

An aggregated weekly roundup of news and commentary about U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Sixth-district congresswoman Michele Bachmann called herself the “perfect candidate” president in a Bloomberg TV interview. “America had their chance with the perfect candidate,” she said. “But any of our candidates are going to be acceptable to the American people, and more than acceptable, because right now, if you look at the Gallup map that came out this week, President Obama is in big trouble all across the country.” But being perfect doesn’t necessarily mean life will be easy, and at the CPAC conference, an annual D.C. gathering of Republican activists, she made light of her campaign’s challenges, including her conflation of John Wayne with serial killer John Wayne Gacy. "I thought you would be interested in knowing that running for …

An aggregated weekly roundup of news and commentary about U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Sixth-district congresswoman Michele Bachmann won’t be making endorsement before Tuesday’s Minnesota caucuses, but she has said that Mitt Romney has the “economic advantage” and that the Republican race may end soon. “Ron Paul has said he will go all the way to the convention. Newt has said he will, also. Rick Santorum has said he will. But the practicality is money is a big part of it, and it’ll be up to the candidates whether they can pay,” Bachmann said on Bloomberg Television’s “Political Capital” program. “To this point, there’s been an economic advantage [for Romney]. But, the beauty of our system is the people decide. The people decide state by state.” In advance of her run for re-election, Bachmann dumped her congressional chief of…

Editor's Note: With Bachmann's presidential campaign ended, the Bachmann Beat will now run weekly on Mondays. Billionaire business mogul Donald Trump blamed sixth-district congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s failed campaign on her “disloyalty.” “Michele Bachmann just dropped out of prez race—when she didn't do the Newsmax debate it showed great disloyalty and people rejected her,” Trump wrote on Twitter. The Star Tribune weighed in on the end of Bachmann’s campaign over the weekend, saying she had a plausible argument for why she should stay in the race until South Carolina but she didn’t have enough cash. “In the end, she knew she did not have the resources to keep up with the leaders,” Kevin Diaz wrote in the Star Tribune. “And the …

Editor's Note: With Bachmann's presidential campaign ended, the Bachmann Beat will continue to run daily through the end of the week before switching to a Monday-only schedule. With her campaign ended after a resounding defeat in the Iowa caucuses, sixth-district congresswoman Michele Bachmann is getting the post-mortem treatment from the press, with media outlets analyzing what went wrong and why. The Fiscal Times wrote that her summer polling lead dwindled due to the entrance of Rick Perry into the race and the September dissipation of her campaign staff. Her poll numbers dropped from the controversy that arose after she called the HPV vaccine “potentially a very dangerous drug.” She also faced scrutiny for her geographical and foreign …

A group of conservative Christians in Iowa started pounding the pavement Tuesday in an effort to get Republicans to caucus for “biblically qualified” sixth-district congresswoman and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann on Jan. 3. “She is capable. She is trustworthy. She fears God, and she hates dishonest gain,” former state Rep. Danny Carroll of Grinnell, Iowa, said Tuesday at a news conference attended by the Sioux City Journal. “Frankly, we're looking to shake things up a little bit.” In South Carolina, Bachmann has grown her Tea Party coalition to more than 50 members. “I once was a strong Perry supporter. Now, as we move closer to the election, I see that Michele Bachmann’s consistent conservative record is what our country needs. …

During Saturday’s debate, sixth-district congresswoman and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann took on the race’s front-runners, whose names she compacted into the moniker, “Newt Romney.” (Before the debate, she described them as being “milquetoast.”) “If you look at Newt-Romney, they were for ObamaCare principles,” she said during the debate. “If you look at Newt-Romney, they were for cap and trade.” Both Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney responded to Bachmann during the debate, with Romney saying that “he and I are not clones, I promise.” “Well, Michele, you know, a lot of what you say just isn’t true, period,” Gingrich said. “You know, I think it’s important for you, and the— this is a fair game, and everybody gets to— to— to pick …

The “clawback” lawsuit was filed last week in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of Florida. Meanwhile, in a telephone conference call with supporters, Bachmann called herself the “one, true core-conservative in this race” and slammed her opponents. An aggregated daily roundup of news and commentary about U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Sixth-district congresswoman and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann wants to overturn gay marriage in Iowa. "Marriage, historically, for all human history has been between a man and a woman. It hasn't been the same-sex marriage," she said on Fox News. "And remember that in Iowa, it was judges that made the decision—not the legislature, which are the people's representatives, and certainly, not the people." At a book signing in South Carolina, Bachmann—who as a Minnesota senator attempted to define marriage as between one man and one woman only—was confronted by Elijah, an 8-year-old gay rights advocate. “Miss Bachmann, my mommy’s gay, but she doesn’t need any fixing,” Elijah whispered into Bachmann’s ear. Elsewhere, Bachmann said …
