Statement from Liberty Ridge Principal on Construction Accident

Michael Moore sent out an update following Monday's incident in which one worker was hospitalized.

Following Monday's construction accident at the expansion site for Liberty Ridge Elementary, Principal Michael Moore on Friday sent out the following statement: Hello Liberty Ridge Parents, I wanted to take this opportunity to provide an update of the Liberty Ridge Site II construction project. Throughout the week, the district has been meeting with contractors and others to assess the damage from the recent construction accident at Liberty Ridge Site 2. The result of the conversations includes the continued goal of having the facility open and operating on the first day of school this fall; which is secondary to ensuring adequate safety measures are in place as the project resumes. Construction Worker Injured at Liberty Ridge Expansion Site Released from Hospital

Construction on the $4.5 million project is expected to resume soon, according to a release from District 833.

The worker who was hospitalized in a construction accident at the Liberty Ridge Elementary expansion site Monday has been released from the hospital, according to a release from District 833. Crews were installing trusses for the new building’s roof on Monday afternoon when one of them tipped, sending other trusses crashing down on two workers, one of whom was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The other worker was unharmed, Woodbury Public Safety officials told Patch. About 20 of the 60-inch trusses collapsed in the incident, according to the South Washington County Schools release. Authorities were called at 3:21 p.m. on June 25, Woodbury police said, and by the time crews arrived the injured man had already been pulled …

Worker Injured in Construction Accident at Liberty Ridge Expansion Site in Woodbury

The man’s injuries are not considered life threatening.

Part of a roof at the expansion site for Liberty Ridge Elementary fell in on two construction workers Monday, sending one man to the hospital. One man was transported to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Woodbury Fire Cmdr. John Wallgren. The worker was semi-conscious and bleeding from his nose, he said. Trusses tipped over and fell, trapping the two workers beneath the debris, Wallgren said. "It was not a collapse." The other worker, who was in a caged lift at the time of the incident, was uninjured, Wallgren said.
