About EMSO

The East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) is a community orchestra that has been providing a broad range of orchestral experiences to the greater Twin Cities area since 1957.  Formerly the 3M Club Orchestra, EMSO was formed in 2009 and set roots in Woodbury, rehearsing Tuesday evenings from 6pm-8pm at East Ridge High School.  EMSO's mission is to provide broad range of educational, multicultural, and inspirational orchestral experiences to East Metro communities.

Eric Levinson is a basoonist and past President for EMSO, still currently active on the board and within the orchestra. Eric, originally from Connecticut, starting playing music in elementary school and eventually took up the bassoon in junior high.  At one point he considered music as a career and attended the University of Michigan partly because it had a good music program.  He later opted for law school at the University of Minnesota.  Eric picked up his bassoon again in 1994 when he learned that 3M had its own orchestra.  He now works as an attorney at 3M.

Angie Wanger is a violinist and current Vice President for EMSO.  Angie grew up in Rochester, Minnesota playing violin in public school and Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestra (SEMYO).  Angie studied meteorology at Iowa State University and was a 2nd violinist in ISU's Symphony Orchestra.  Relatively new to the Twin Cities, Angie joined EMSO in 2009 during its first season as a non-profit community orchestra.  In additon to Vice President, Angie also serves on the Publicity Committee and serves as EMSO's Social Media Manager.  For her day job, Angie is an environmental consultant at Trinity Consultants.
