The East Metro Symphony Orchestra (EMSO) is a community orchestra that provides a broad range of orchestral experiences to the greater Twin Cities area. Formerly the 3M Club Symphony Orchestra (1957-2009), EMSO is comprised of volunteer avocational musicians from all around the east metro, including Wisconsin. EMSO is headquartered in Woodbury, rehearsing Tuesday evenings from 6pm-8:30pm at East Ridge High School and performing four to five concerts each season. EMSO’s mission is to provide a broad range of educational, multicultural, and inspirational orchestral experiences to East Metro Communities.

Angie Newgren is a violinist and current President for EMSO. Angie studied at the University of St. Thomas where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English in 2014, with a minor in music. She currently works in non profit management company in St. Louis Park. When she is not at work or practicing, she is attending concerts, or traveling.

Steve Crooks is a violist and current Vice President for EMSO. Steve grew up in Minnesota, playing in rock bands in his earlier years. He studied Chemistry at Hamline University, and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Minnesota, and has worked at 3M as a research chemist, later moving into his current role in intellectual property. Steve plays several string instruments and percussion, and was happy to join EMSO in 2016.
