Woodbury VFW Reaches Agreement With City on Can Trailer

The VFW uses the trailer to collect cans, which help fund scholarships for local high school students.

The Woodbury VFW and the city have reached an agreement regarding the group’s Cans for College trailer.

The trailer, which the VFW uses to collect cans to fund scholarships for local high school students, was for a time in August thought to be stolen.

It had been stationed at the Valley Creek Mall, but mall officials, unable to contact the VFW, moved it at the city's request. (Patch put mall management in touch with the VFW.)

Now, an agreement has been reached whereby the trailer can be positioned the Valley Creek Mall parking lot for 20 days a year, according to Bob Fritsche, commander of Post 9024.

The trailer will be available at the lot for the next two weeks.

On days it’s not stationed in the parking lot, it will be alongside ACE Hardware, and people will still be able to drop off cans, Fritsche said.
