Park Passion, Calling (on) All Cars, Red Roof Run: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from May 21-27.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

May 21

An employee who was fired from Chipotle left by punching open a door, nearly striking incoming customers. No assault occurred, and the store manager told police the issue had been resolved.

A resident called police after seeing a rifle in the backseat of a car with its back door open at Keller Williams. Police made contact with the vehicle’s owner, who said it was a BB gun, but the door shouldn’t have been open. Nothing was missing from the car, and police discussed the dangers leaving a firearm in plain view.

An ongoing dispute between neighbors at an apartment building continued when one person started yelling at another and made a gesture at his throat. Police discussed restraining orders with the caller. One of them was moving out this week.

May 22

An officer scared off some suspicious juveniles who were standing next to a parked car at Woodbury Lutheran Church. Police were unable to capture the juveniles, who ran when they saw the squad car. They did not gain entry to the car in the church lot.

May 23

A resident called police about a car parked in the middle of a cul-de-sac on Lamplight Circle. It was not blocking traffic, mailboxes or a fire hydrant. “After further investigation I was able to determine that the complainant has made several reports to the WPD over the last several years complaining about neighbors and their parking and animals, among other things. If you reference ICRS … to mention a few, it becomes more clear that today’s complaint is just another complaint similar to all the rest,” reads part of the report. An officer advised the man he should refrained from making further complaints of that nature.

A bicyclist told police geese attacked him while he was riding near Bielenberg Drive and Tamarack Road. It’s the second time of late a resident has reported a goose attack. See: Goose Attack, Scary Mary, Coyote ‘Had That Look’: Woodbury Police Blotter

Police were called about people having sex in a car at Carver Lake Beach. An officer arrived and found two people putting on their clothes. They admitted to having sex, and police discussed “appropriate places to engage in that activity and how the park was not one of them.” Both were polite and cooperative.

While running a routine check at the Red Roof Inn, police noticed a person leaving whose license came back suspended. The woman made several attempts to elude officers, on foot and in her car, and she was eventually found in the car of an uninvolved citizen. She was initially arrested for driving after suspension, but police learned she was a suspect in an email scam.

Police were called about a panhandler at Wal-Mart. He told an officer he was asking for money so he could travel back to Fargo, N.D. Wal-Mart did not ask for him to leave. No further police action was taken.

Police were called about an unruly customer at Urgent Care. A man came in asking for information about his daughter. Because she is an adult, workers said they could not give out any information. He began swearing at employees and two paramedics had to escort him from the building. Police found him walking nearby. He said workers were rude, but he admitted he had been drinking. He was trespassed from Urgent Care.

May 24

A woman told police she was being held against her will. Officers learned that another individual had taken her car keys because she was out drinking with her sister all night. One person was given a ride to Denny’s; the other was picked up by a family member.

A resident contacted police after finding a container that said “final footage” at Sandlewood and Upper Afton roads. Officers learned it was a geocache.

May 26

A resident called police after seeing several teenagers in a Mercedes Benz at the McDonald’s drive-thru. The caller didn’t have any reason for the concern other than seeing several teens in a car at 5:30 a.m.

Police were called to the 10300 block of City Walk Drive after a man’s ex-girlfriend arrived and started yelling at his current girlfriend and pounding on a patio door. Both women had left by the time police arrived, and no further assistance was required.

May 27

Police were called about an assault among two cousins on Century Circle, but the alleged assailant was not there by the time police arrived and the caller did not answer his phone.
