Pound of Marijuana, Meth, Pills at Woodbury Motel: Wisconsin Man Sentenced

Officers were initially investigating a missing person and instead found the drug cache at the Red Roof Inn.

A Wisconsin man has been sentenced following a March 2012 drug bust at a Woodbury motel.

Dennis Bruce Grohn, 31, of Elk Mound, had a yearlong prison sentence stayed and was placed on five years of probation after police found more than a pound of marijuana and other drugs in a room at the Red Roof Inn.

During room checks a little before 10 a.m. on March 16, 2012, police found that a woman had a National Crime Information Center alert as a possibly missing person. The alert noted that she was potentially with Grohn, who had a warrant out for his arrest in Wisconsin.

Officers spotted him and he was placed under arrest. Grohn also smelled strongly of marijuana, and police checked the room, where the woman said she was fine.

She did not allow police to enter the room, and officers obtained a search warrant.

In the room, police found several bags containing 1.2 pounds of marijuana total (one labeled “Willies Wonder”), along with 2.11 grams of methamphetamine and 38 prescription drug pills.

As part of his release on the drug conviction, Grohn was also sentenced to jail time and must remain law abiding, submit to random drug testing and provide a DNA sample under the conditions of his release.
