Woodbury's Throwbacks is Becoming Woody’s Roadhouse

The Woodbury bar is changing its concept under a new management group.

One of Woodbury’s more popular bars will soon have a new name and a totally different concept.

Throwbacks Grille and Bar is becoming Woody’s Roadhouse.

Throwbacks is set to close March 31 for a major renovation and reopen the last week of April as Woody’s, according to General Manager David Harvey.

Woody’s will offer steak, burgers, ribs, skewers and rotisserie meats, and transition from a bar decor to a restaurant atmosphere, Harvey said. A chef is being brought in from an Uptown restaurant, he said.

“In this day and age, entertainment venues just don’t survive,” Harvey said. “We’re no longer going to be an entertainment venue that serves food, we’re going to be a restaurant with entertainment in the evenings.”

A new management group has taken over the space, Harvey said, and plans to capture the market looking for high-quality food at a good value.

“I think, with Woody’s, we’re offering that,” he said. “We’re going directly at our competition.”

Woody’s will be an independent establishment, Harvey said. Owners have spent the past three and a half months working out the details, including the name. They considered several options before settling on Woody’s.

“Woody’s for Woodbury,” Harvey said. “That one stuck with us.”

We were going over all the different restaurants that have occupied this space at the Woodbury Citizens' Academy event last night. What else has been there? I'll start: Ol Mexico.

I worked there when it was Ol Mexico, then Margarita Murphys and then Ol Mexico again. There was also a Purple People Eatery, Majors and Throwbacks. Am I missing any?

I hadn't heard of Margarita Murphy's. But for some reason I thought there was another one in there.

Don't lose the Golden Tee, either! Hard to find a place to play around Woodbury.

My question is simple:
Are there still going to be bands on Friday and Saturday nights or not. The artical is a little confusing in that regard.

The only time we would go there for dinner would be prior to one of the bands (Uncle Chunk, Hairball, Arch Allies, et,) playing there that evening

David made it sound like they'll still have music, just that it won't be the focus.
