Brief: Creative Kidstuff Closes Woodbury Store

The location wasn't ideal for the children's store, CEO says.

After 15 years in the city, closed its Woodbury store on Aug. 31.

The main reason for the closure, CEO Roberta Bonoff said, was that its location on Valley Creek Plaza wasn’t ideal, and when its lease was up, the company decided not to renew it. "It's pretty simple."

“We wanted to find another location in Woodbury,” she said. “We don’t believe that that was the right location for us.”

Bonoff said Creative Kidstuff will continue to look for another spot in Woodbury, but as the retail landscape of the city changed over the past decade and a half, the location just wasn’t working.

“We love our Woodbury customers and we hate to go,” Bonoff said.

There are six Creative Kidstuff stores in Minnesota and one in Iowa, she said. The closest one to Woodbury is on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, but she said many local customers head to its location at the Galleria in Edina.

Bonoff said the company’s website is well-utilized and suggested customers check it out.
