W.A.S.H. Before You Walk

Are you using proper form when pushing your child in the stroller? Heather Hampton, with Baby Boot Camp, has a couple quick and easy tips to help reduce your chance of injury when pushing a stroller.

Sunshine, warmer temps, and people exercising outside! Spring is a wonderful time to get the stroller out and log a few steps. Getting some fresh air is great for you and your child. A quick walk around the neighborhood or around one of the lakes can help boost your mood by releasing some "feel good" endorphins.

Proper stroller posture is important to reduce your chance of injury. WASH is a simple acronym to use before heading out for your next walk.

  • Wrists – in a neutral position; there should be a straight line from your hand to wrist
  • Abdominals – engaged, without holding your breath
  • Shoulders – back and down, relaxed away from your ears
  • Hips – towards handlebars, especially when pushing uphill

I hope that you and your baby are able to enjoy the warmer temps and sunshine this week.  If you are looking for more ways to workout with your child, be sure to check out a Baby Boot Camp class.  This is a great 60 minute workout that you do with your child(ren) in the stroller.  Register for your first class FREE on our website (babybootcamp.com).  You can also connect with us on Facebook where you will find updates about classes, current specials, nutrition and fitness tips.
