Minnesota Photos
Photos taken in Minnesota are both diverse and beautiful. We have much to offer.
I like to use photos in my work as a fiber artist.
Sometimes I will print a photo directly on fabric, others I will use as a jumping off point.
Minnesota Contemporary Quilters used the theme "Twin Cities on the Bias" for their show quilts this past year. We were supposed to make a quilt that would show our bias for Minneapolis or St Paul.

Many of the members grew up in one or the other of these cities and therefore had a bias, or not, for their home.
I am a transplant to Minnesota, although I have lived in Woodbury now for almost 25 years. I had trouble coming up with a bias for one city or the other, they both have much to offer.

I decided to showcase many of the places I have been in both cities.
My husband helped me take photos of the different locations. We ended up with more photos than we could use but had a fun adventure driving aroung the two cities trying to decide which locations to photograph.
I printed them all in black and white and tea stained everything to make it look older. I added a little bit of color to the one location that I chose as my 'bias'.
The Textile Center is the hub of many of my fiber art activities and is the one place I visit over and over again. If you are looking for a place to shop for quality handcrafted items, The Textile Center is the spot for you. I haven't tried to sell any items in their shop yet but I have entered the members only show which begins in January each year. Their gallery always has interesting work.
Photos help me a lot in my work so I almost always have my camera with me where ever I go. Nature shots are some of my favorites.
Last night I was browsing the web and discovered Capture Minnesota.
If you haven't been to this site yet you should check it out. There are many wonderful sites in Minnesota and people are adding photos daily that showcase the beautiful diversity of this state.
I was excited about this event and added ten photos of my own. Most taken right here in Woodbury. Look through your photos and see what you have to add.
