20-Year Grudge, Lurid Video, Jewelry Heist: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from July 30 through Aug. 5.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

July 30

After noticing several pieces of jewelry had gone missing from her Pendryn Hill Curve home, a woman confronted her daughter’s boyfriend, who admitted to taking the items and giving them to his father, who then sold them. The woman only wanted the jewelry back. Some pieces were returned, but others had been pawned. A total of $5,000 worth of jewelry was still missing, and charges were going to be pressed if the items hadn’t been returned.

An attorney at the 500 block of Bielenberg Drive called police regarding ongoing issues with a former client who was upset about not getting enough money from a medical settlement 20 years ago. On July 30, the man threatened the lawyer with a baseball bat. The attorney didn’t want to press charges but wanted the man trespassed. The man lives in a trailer that he pulls around with a truck and police were unable to contact him.

July 31

Police were called after a man who was at the Public Works Building went into a room where staff were running tests and then went into the lobby and began reading. He made workers feel uncomfortable but had left by the time officers arrived.

A resident called police about a garbage truck that was possibly dumping hazardous materials near Windsor Lane and Highpointe Road. Officers did not find the garbage truck in the area.

A Woodcrest Drive resident called police for advice after arriving home and finding eight juvenile males outside the house while his 14-year-old daughter was home alone. An officer advised the man to try to take it up with the boys’ parents and to call 911 if need be.

Police were called to the City Centre Caribou Coffee about a man who had been drinking alcohol from a bottle for two hours and was bothering customers while sitting in front of the shop. Officers arrived and found he had a warrant out for his arrest. He was booked and taken to the Washington County Jail.

Aug. 1

A resident called police to complain about work conditions at a road construction site on Glen Road. The caller said there were no spotters for the crew and planned to call the Occupational Safety and Health Administration about the matter. An officer arrived and spoke with a city official, who said all laws were being followed and they were familiar with the caller.

A man told police he had a gun pointed at him while he was stopped at a light at Radio Drive and Hudson Road. He said another car pulled up along side his and two people inside began swearing at him for no apparent reason, then the passenger, a woman, pointed the gun at him. He quickly drove off. The car was described as a red two-door “sporty” car. The man didn’t call police until half an hour later when he got home and officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

Aug. 2

Police mediated an incident in which a 16-year-old Woodbury girl came home drunk and her parents tried to find out where she got the alcohol.

A resident called police about a possible assault in a car at Tahoe and Lake roads. An officer later made contact with the car’s owner, a man who said his son kept kicking the seat and he pulled off the road to make him stop. An officer was going to follow up to check on the welfare of the child.

Police were investigating a burglary at the 2300 block of Shadow Creek Trail. Someone had entered a kitchen window and stole nearly $8,000 worth of items, including jewelry.

A resident called police after her daughter reported seeing a man in an SUV masturbating and videotaping himself in the parking lot of the Target at Valley Creek Plaza. She was only able to obtain a partial plate number and police were unable to locate the vehicle.

A resident at the 700 block of Winterberry Draw called police after finding $900 worth of video games missing. The man believed his daughter took them.

Aug. 3

Police were called about a drunken woman at Cowboy Jack’s. She was in the parking lot taking items out of her friend’s vehicle and throwing them on the ground. She was also swearing at other patrons and vehicles and flipping them off. She became uncooperative and was handcuffed for a trip to detox. During the ride she kicked the window of a squad and police were following up on the matter.

A resident at the 6200 block of Kalen Drive called police for advice about dealing with snakes living in the bushes of her backyard. An officer suggested she contact a pest-control company or the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Aug. 4

A resident called police to alert them to juveniles riding motorbikes and ATVs on pedestrian paths at Radio Drive and Bailey Road. He was advised to call back when it happens again.

Green Mill workers called police about a drunken and disruptive man. Officers arrived and the man registered a .277 on a preliminary breath test. He was transported to detox.
