Blotter: Woman Leaves Car Running; Finds it Stolen Moments Later

Woodbury police also responded to several calls of recent vehicle break-ins.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Police were called to the 6400 block of Lake Road Terrace on Dec. 9 on a report that a woman's 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse had been stolen. She left it running while she went into Super America, and came outside to find it gone. Police later discovered that a vehicle stolen in St. Paul had been left nearby. The case is under investigation.

A window was smashed out of a 2008 Nissan Quest on the 7200 block of Guider Drive on Dec. 9 and several items were stolen from the vehicle, including a rug valued at $700, several DVDs and CDs, and a GPS. That same day police also received a call that a 1993 Plymouth minivan had been broken into at the same address. A CD player valued at $100 and a blanket worth $80 was stolen in that incident.

A man living at the 6900 block of Ashwood Road called Woodbury police on Dec. 9 to say that his roommate had broken a television because he was upset. Police asked the man to again see if the TV worked. It did, and he apologized for bothering the officers.

Police were called to the Sheraton Hotel on the 600 block of Bielenberg Drive on a report that a customer had left without paying. The customer left his address and told the hotel to bill him.

 A crosswalk sign at the intersection of Sequoia Road and Leyland Trail was spray-painted recently. The incident was reported on Dec. 9.

A Honda Accord had a window smashed out while it was parked at the Woodbury YMCA on Dec. 9. No items were taken from the vehicle.

A number of tools valued at $100 total were reported stolen from a construction site at the 11000 block of Harvest Path on Dec. 10.

A woman called police on Dec. 10 to report that a Cannon camera valued at $125 and a $115 iPod were stolen from her home on the 2800 block of Wimbledon Ridge. She told police she suspected someone with whom she had a relationship stole the items, but when police found him they could not locate the stolen goods.

Police were called to the Woodbury Rainbow Foods on Dec. 10 on a report that the rear license plate a car had been stolen. The plate was later recovered from a stolen vehicle in St. Paul.

A cell phone was reported stolen from a Chevrolet pickup truck at the 8800 block of Sequoia Court on Dec. 10. Officers noted that there were footprints in the snow that appeared to show someone walking up area driveways and checking vehicles.

Three or four people were reportedly fighting at the BP gas station on the 1500 block of Woodlane Drive on Dec. 11.

A Woodbury man reported that his 2001 Oldsmobile was stolen while it was stuck in a ditch on Dec. 11. He went to get it towed the next day but the vehicle wasn't there.

Police were called to the AT&T store on the 7000 block of Valley Creek Plaza on Dec. 14 on a report that a man was upset and refused to leave. Employees told police that the man had become verbally abusive. He left once police arrived.

Police responded to a Dec. 14 call at the 6000 block of Valley Creek Road on a report that someone was shoveling snow into the street. Police told the homeowner that it is against city ordinances to do so. She told police it would not happen in the future.
