Call for Pizza Turns into Meth Bust in Woodbury

A St. Paul man asked if he could order a pizza while they searched his motel room.

But the man needed the address of the , so an officer looked for it in an advertising leaflet for the motel… and a bag of drugs, later identified as methamphetamine, tumbled out.

That’s according to the criminal complaint filed in the case against Chee Her, 28, who now faces a felony drug possession charge.

At about 3 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2011, Woodbury police were investigating a possible mail fraud case at the Red Roof Inn. As part of the investigation, officers decided to talk to people in three rooms at the motel.

They saw Her leaving one of the rooms and asked him if they could search it. He obliged, and while police were looking around the room Her asked if he could order a pizza, according to the complaint.

After finding the baggie of meth in the motel advertising, officers later found another baggie containing white powder residue in a trashcan under the sink, according to the complaint. Both later tested positive for meth.

Her told police the drugs were not his but would likely test positive for meth, the complaint says, because he was fairly certain someone had gotten high in the room, though he maintained the last time he used meth was Dec. 14, 2011.

If convicted, Her faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
