The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

March 5

A Wal-Mart manager flagged down an officer at about 7:45 p.m. after an employee showed up for work drunk. The manager sent the worker home for the day but saw him walking toward his vehicle. Police made contact with the man, who showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking, performed poorly on field-sobriety tests, and registered a .203 on a preliminary breath test. He was arrested on suspicion of DWI.

An officer at about 2 a.m. questioned a man who was sitting in his idling car outside the Yang’s strip mall, the site of recent burglaries. The man said he had gotten off work in St. Paul, but had no explanation for why he was sitting in the lot. The Woodbury man said he hadn’t gone home because he “wasn’t tired yet.” There were no signs of damage or forced entry at the strip mall.

Police were called about a man asking for help outside a Woodbury home at around 11 p.m. An officer arrived and saw the man urinating in the snow near the front door. He had also urinated on his jeans and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He wasn’t sure how he had arrived at the home, and registered a .245 on a preliminary breath test. The homeowner just wanted him to leave, and the man was transported to detox.

March 8

A resident at the 3000 block of Cheshunt Drive called police after hearing banging noises on her home and its garage at about 12:15 a.m. The caller opened her door and yelled at a man, who then fled. Officers checked the area with negative results. Had the resident not yelled at the man, the situation would have likely “evolved into a burglary,” the report says.

A resident called police about a group of four men apparently passing around a joint at Potawatomi Park. The area was checked but they were gone by the time police arrived.

Police were called about a group of three men apparently trying to break into a home. Officers arrived and learned that they were new residents who got locked out of their home, and were working with a locksmith.

A resident called police about a construction crew blocking access to a cul de sac at the 1300 block of Whistler Point Road. An officer arrived and had a crewmember move the truck.

A worker at Pet Evolution called police after a young man came in and asked to use the bathroom. It was odd, the employee said, because people don’t typically come in and make that request. The man used the bathroom, then had a brief conversation with the employee about how he owns a vacuum business. The man, who did not steal or purchase anything, appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, the worker told police.

March 9

A resident at the 300 block of Woodduck Circle called police about mail tampering after finding a manila envelope with other neighbors’ mail inside. The resident’s babysitter also said a neighbor dropped off a large white envelope with neighbors’ mail inside. Police contacted the people whose mail was found, and none reported delivery issues or problems with their bank accounts. The mail was returned.

An officer working a town hall meeting at City Hall involving several local elected officials reported that the meeting concluded without incident.

Officers were called about a fight at Champps. Workers broke up the melee, and one of the combatants left in a black Tahoe prior to police arrival. The other man was sitting at a table, appeared to be intoxicated, and was being very loud and boisterous. He showed no obvious injuries. A manger told police she has had problems with the two men fighting in the restaurant before. The man who was still there was issued a trespass notice for the establishment, and police told the manager to call if the other man returns so he can be trespassed as well.

March 10

An Oak View Drive man called police after he believed his wife, from whom he is separated, took items from his home when his son was tending to the dogs while he was out of town. Police contacted the woman, who said she had her son retrieve a blanket that was hers. Officers advised her that she is not welcome at the home and needs to make arrangements if she wants to retrieve property in the future.

March 11

Police were called about unwanted parties at a home at the 2900 block of Blue Ridge Drive, and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving the area. In the car, police found a woman who had two warrants out for her arrest, along with two methamphetamine pipes in her possession. Another person in the car told police there was “illegal stuff” in a black bag in the trunk. A police K-9 unit was called in and searched the car, and the bag was seized pending a search warrant. The two people were transported to the Washington County Jail pending formal complaints.
