Going ‘Nuts’ Over Parking Space, Stolen Safe, Snowball Fight: Woodbury Police Blotter

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

A man reported that his vehicle, parked at the Woodbury 10 Theatre, had been keyed. He said he accidentally parked in two spaces and assumed it was retaliation.

A Hudson Bay resident reported that the front door of his townhome was kicked in and a safe was stolen from a bedroom closet.

A woman reported being followed in a road rage incident. She was going southbound on Manning Avenue and the other car followed her toward the Stonemill Farms neighborhood before turning off.

A man tried to cash a fraudulent check from his grandmother’s account at U.S. Bank. Police forwarded the information to the Washington County Attorney’s Office, but she did not want to press charges.

A St. Paul man suspected of shoplifting fled Wal-Mart after loss-prevention officers told him police were on their way. Officers made contact with the man at his home and cited him.

A woman came into Old Navy and purchased a jacket in the morning, then tried to return a different jacket that afternoon. When an employee asked for her ID, she became belligerent and began calling workers names and loudly swearing. She left before the call to police was completed.

Workers at Elite Liquors called police after a man was suspected of putting a bottle of brandy down his pants and leaving the store without paying for it.

A mother called police about her son, who she believed was drunk and left the home wearing shorts and a light sweatshirt. She told police he was likely going to a liquor store to procure more alcohol. Officers found him at the bar at Acapulco. The mother told police he wouldn’t stay home and would probably continue to leave in the cold weather. He was transported to detox without incident.

A Sprucewood Drive resident called police after noticing his garage door had opened on its own around the same time of night over the past couple of days. Police advised the man that a neighbor might have the same type of opener and told him to try other ways to keep it closed.

Police were called about a fight at a home on Redwood Curve, and found an underage drinking party. Several people were cited.

A construction worker reported that someone cut a pad lock on a trailer parked at the 2900 block of Eagle Valley Drive, but nothing was missing.

A postal worker reported that three packages delivered the day before to homes at the 9200 block of Wedgewood Point had been opened and tampered with.

A Collingwood Lane woman called police after receiving harassing phone calls. She believed it was her ex-boyfriend.

A resident called police about juveniles shooting pellet guns at Colby Lake Park. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the boys.

A fight broke out near Courtly Road and Kings Drive over a Woodbury vs. Roseville basketball game. One person who was injured declined medical attention, and those involved could not positively identify others in the fight.

Police were called about people claiming to be part of a tree-trimming business who were soliciting in the area of Donegal Bay. They were informed of city ordinances.

A man chased two boys into a home on North View Lane after one of them hit his truck with a snowball. He was yelling and swearing at the boys. One of their parents told the man any damage done to the truck would be paid for (there was none). Police made contact with the man and advised him it was a poor reaction to the situation.

Two Woodbury residents got into an argument over a parking space at Rainbow Foods. One man threw pistachios at the other vehicle, whose driver said they were both near the spot but the man didn’t have his blinker on. He became abusive and started pounding on the window of the other car. He was cited for disorderly conduct.

A fight broke out at Wild Bill’s, with two women pulling each other’s hair. One was reportedly hit with a beer bottle. One woman’s hair extensions were pulled out, and another had a bloody nose. There were conflicting stories and no assault charges were pursued, though all involved were trespassed from the establishment.

A home at the 9000 block of Duckwood Trail was egged.

A resident at the 9500 Wedgewood Drive reported that two of his vehicles were rummaged through, but nothing was missing. The cars were unlocked in the driveway.

When employees at Waxing the City tried to open up for the day, they found problems with the locks and a locksmith told them someone tried to pry open the door. There were other break-ins in that area recently. See: Three Businesses Burglarized at City Walk in Woodbury
