I Scream You Scream, Shovel Trouble, Soda Situation: Woodbury Police Blotter

Selected calls to the Woodbury Public Safety Department from March 19-25.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

March 19

Police were called about a squatter at an apartment building at the 10200 block of City Walk Drive. A man had been living in the hallways for a few days after his former girlfriend kicked him out of a unit. He was trespassed from the building and officers gave him a ride to Hudson so he could make contact with his mother, who lives in Wisconsin.

A resident at a Donegal Drive townhome complex called police after a tow truck had his vehicle hooked up and was told by the driver that it would cost $100 to drop the car. The driver said he has a contract with the property and is told to drive through and tow cars parked in no-parking zones. The car owner paid the $100 and the car was put down.

A man who lives at the 3000 block of Mulberry Drive contacted police after his babysitter texted him about a man who came into the home earlier that day and asked if it was a daycare. Police contacted the babysitter, who said the man seemed genuinely confused and she wasn’t fearful of him. He was polite and apologized. There have been no similar reports in the area.

An argument involving three men broke out in the parking lot of Gander Mountain. A man said a car came within a foot of him, so he threw his soda bottle at the car. Two men got out of the car and the argument ensued. The man said he thought they were going to fight him so he threatened to call police and went inside. An officer informed the man that he “needs to make better decisions” and his reaction was inappropriate.

Police were called about a couple having an argument in the parking lot of Applebee’s for 30 minutes.

March 20

A worker at Family Health Services called police about a man trying to falsify information to obtain prescription drugs. The employee told police the company isn’t missing any drugs and she didn’t think the man would be back.

A resident called police about four juveniles at Carver Lake Park. She believed they weren’t dressed appropriately for the weather and may be doing drugs. Officers checked the area but didn’t locate the group.

Police got an anonymous tip about a man who is driving without a license and may have marijuana in the car. Officers took the report as information only.

Police were called about a man dressed in black walking up to driveways at the 2900 block of Liberty Trail. It had been going on for an hour. Officers checked the area but could not locate the man.

A resident on City Walk Drive called police after noticing blood on a patio doorframe. The woman told police the ground-level apartment has been burglarized in the past, and she has seen neighbors looking into her windows. She said she doesn’t feel safe there and was moving out soon.

March 21

A woman who fell on the sidewalk in front of a house at the 7000 block of Lydia Lane didn’t like the homeowners’ response to her telling them to shovel. Police checked the property and the sidewalk had been shoveled.

March 22

Police were notified that a woman they were seeking was back at Plato’s Closet.

A resident called police about two men rolling a joint in a car in the parking lot of Life Time Fitness. The car had left prior to police being dispatched.

March 23

Workers at Wild Bill’s called police after a man punched a bouncer. The man left and got into a taxi without further incident.

A resident at the 6700 block of Orchard Ridge Trail called police about people she didn’t recognize shoveling. Officers arrived and talked to a driver, who said she swerved to miss a deer and ended up in a snow bank. Her parents were helping her dig the car out of the snow.

Police were called about a possible assault at the 7600 block of Dunmore Road. A man said he had stolen a knife from a home (it had been returned), and he went over to apologize. The man who answered the door set a child down, grabbed the other man by the shirt and said if he came to the home again he would kill him. The man who called police had a scratch on his chest. Officers went to the home, and the resident said he knew why police were there. He said he pushed the other man and told him if he returned bad things would happen. The resident is on federal probation and was to be issued a citation.

March 25

A resident at the 10200 block of City Walk Drive called police about yelling and swearing coming from another unit. Officers made contact with a man who said he would keep the noise level down. The yelling was about spilled ice cream.
