Police, Helicopter Search for Suspect Who Fled Woodbury Drive Crash Sunday

The woman managed to elude authorities following the single-car crash at the new roundabout on Sunday, Sept. 29.

A woman Sunday night fled the scene of a one-car crash at Lake Road and Woodbury Drive, prompting a police and helicopter search.

The woman, described by witnesses as wearing a hooded sweatshirt, was able to get away, said Woodbury Police Cmdr. John Altman.

Police got the call at about 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, and believe the woman was “most likely” intoxicated, he said.

A State Patrol helicopter was either in the air or about to take off at the time of the crash, Altman said, and officers were concerned for the woman’s welfare after hearing witness accounts.

The helicopter was in the air for about half an hour. The vehicle was towed.
