Scrooge Sign, ‘Normal Clean-Cut Woodbury Person,’ Facebook Flashing: Woodbury Police Blotter

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Police responded to a road rage incident between two men that started on Interstate 694, continuing to the Valley Creek Road exit. They were reportedly giving each other the middle finger and yelling at each other and using derogatory words. One apparently told to the other to “call his boyfriend” and the other told police he was laughing while he was being yelled at. “Both drivers were advised of their poor decisions,” the report says. No charges were requested. 

Two golf clubs valued at $360 together, along with a  $40 box of balls, were reported stolen from Golf Galaxy.

A resident at the 6000 block of Romeo Road called police to say she was called by a “phone bank” saying if she gave them her Social Security number she would be given a new one. She knew it was a scam and hung up; she simply wanted the incident documented.

A Vining Drive resident called police after an ex-boyfriend threatened to post semi-nude photos of her on her children’s Facebook pages. He was also sending her threatening text messages. Officers spoke with the man, who admitted he threatened to post the photos on her friends’ pages but not her children’s. She later called police again to report that he had indeed posted the semi-nude photos on her friends’ Facebook pages. Police discussed restraining orders with the woman.

Police were called after man confronted his neighbor in a loud, boisterous manner while flailing his arms. The two had been in a dispute over property lines. The one who confronted the other was cited.

An officer was unable to capture a kitten spotted near Weir Drive and Valley Creek Road.

Two roommates got into an argument because one of them was letting another individual sleep at the home that evening. The person who was staying there told police he didn’t have anywhere else to go, and when officers learned he was drunk (BPT .21), they gave him the option of going to detox. He agreed.

Police were called to Burger King on a report of a domestic assault. The woman told officers her boyfriend had assaulted her in Roberts, Wis., and he was using drugs. A Washington County K-9 unit was brought in, and marijuana and paraphernalia was found in his car. The items were disposed of, and Woodbury officers contacted their counterparts in Roberts. They told Woodbury police to release them and they would follow up. The mother and her child were released at the scene and the man was given a ride to a mall in Lakeland.

Two mailboxes at the 2500 block of Copper Cliff Trail were reported damaged.  

Workers at Thanh Truc restaurant called police about an intoxicated customer. Officers found him nearby—he was having a hard time walking and keeping his balance. A PBT showed him at .26, and he told police he knew no one in the city who could take care of him. He voluntarily agreed to go to detox.

Employees at the Red Roof Inn called police after smelling the odor of marijuana coming from a room. Those staying there were evicted and a small amount of the drug was destroyed.

An employee at Applebee’s contacted police after getting three phone calls from a customer, apparently upset about food and service, who also mentioned something about coming back to the restaurant later. The worker asked police to see her to her vehicle, which officers did. There were no further issues.

Police were called about a dispute between neighbors—one accused the other of shoveling snow onto her yard. An officer made contact with both and tried to mediate the situation. One appeared willing to do so; the other did not. The officer noticed that the person who was unwilling to make amends had a sign in a window that read: “Merry X-Mas Ass” with an arrow pointing to the other home.

Police were called about an individual who did not appear to be a “normal clean-cut Woodbury person” in the Ashley Furniture parking lot. Police found no issues.

A father called police after his high school-aged children refused to go to school because of the snowy conditions. He asked if police could give them a ride. The officer told him no, but said he would respond and “discuss responsibilities and respect” with the children. By the time police arrived their mother had taken them to school.

A resident at the 3500 block of Crestmoor Point called police to report suspicious footprints near his home and his neighbor’s.
