The South St. Paul woman faces one charge of child neglect, one count of child endangerment and one misdemeanor assault charge.

With her two toddlers in the back seat, a South St. Paul woman allegedly crashed her truck into another car on purpose during an Aug. 17 incident in Woodbury.

Emma Fernandez-Fernandez, 40, faces one charge of child neglect, one count of child endangerment and one misdemeanor assault charge.

Woodbury police were called to the area of Courtly Road and Cochrane Drive on a report of vehicles “crashing into each other,” and on the way to the scene were told two women were fighting in the street, according to the criminal complaint.

Officers arrived and found a Nissan Titan and Chevrolet Avalanche at odd angles in the street, and it appeared the Nissan had struck the Chevrolet.

Police spoke with a man who said the women were his girlfriends and he has children with both of them, the complaint says.

The man told officers Fernandez-Fernandez saw him and the other woman driving together and began to follow them; they also had a child in their vehicle, which belongs to the defendant, according to the complaint.

Fernandez-Fernandez then crashed into the other truck, got out, and pulled the other woman from her vehicle and threw her to the ground and began beating her, the complaint says.

The woman’s shirt was torn and she had scratches on her body.

If convicted on the two felonies and misdemeanor, Fernandez-Fernandez faces up to two years and 90 days in prison and $7,000 in fines.
