Woman Sentenced for Shooting Father in Woodbury Home

Amber Allyson Rabideau was hit with three counts of felony assault following the February 2010 incident in which her father was shot twice in the stomach but survived.

An Eagan woman was convicted of three counts felony assault in Washington County District Court this week following the February 2010 shooting of her father in Woodbury.

Amber Allyson Rabideau, 23, was convicted of shooting her father twice in the stomach on Feb. 22 at his Woodbury home. He had to have part of his bowel removed and one of the bullets remains lodged in his back, but he survived the incident, according to the criminal complaint.

Police arrived to the home, on the 2000 block of Kings Drive, on a report of multiple gunshots fired. The victim, James Rabideau, and his wife were caring for Amber Rabideau’s son rather than giving it up for adoption, according to the complaint. The couple had tried to gain sole custody of the child and an argument ensued a short time later.

On Feb. 22, Amber took a .22-caliber pistol owned by James Rabideau and confronted him in a bedroom at the home, according to the complaint. He tried to take the gun from her and was shot twice.

She called her attorney but never dialed 911, according to the complaint.

Amber Rabideau told police she believed her father shot himself in an attempt to take her child away from her, according to the complaint. She was arrested outside the home.
