Woodbury Looks to Hire New Firefighter/EMTs

Applications can be found at Woodbury City Hall.

The Woodbury Fire Department is now accepting applications for firefighter/EMTs.

The department is looking to hire up to 16 people for the paid-on-call night-responder positions, said Fire Cmdr. John Wallgren.

Applications are available at City Hall and are due by May 3.

The Woodbury FD is facing retirements, and other firefighters are moving out of the community, Wallgren said.

“We’ve been monitoring our numbers and we did not have a fall hire,” he said.

Applicants must be 18 or older and have a high school diploma or its equivalent. People will have to undergo a background check and a psychological evaluation, Wallgren said.

Firefighter/EMTs are being hired at all four stations:

  • Thames Road Fire Station
  • Fox Run Fire Station
  • Afton Road Fire Station
  • Public Safety Headquarters
