Woodbury PD Blotter: July 1-6

Police reported a relatively quiet Fourth of July weekend, though there were several complaints about late-night fireworks.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

To start this week, there were several of complaints about fireworks around the Fourth of July. A Woodbury Fire Department official said there were no serious incidents, just plenty of calls, mostly about late-night fireworks.

A resident at the 7600 block of Steepleview Road called police on July 1 after someone strung fishing line along trees and signs in the area.

A woman who was shopping at Woodbury Lakes told police that her wallet was stolen from her purse while she was tending to her infant on July 1.

Police were called to Carver Beach on July 1 after someone spotted a group of people smoking marijuana. Police arrived and a member of the group said the person who was smoking had left.

A woman’s purse was stolen from her vehicle July 1 and more than $3,000 in purchases were made using her credit card at Target stores in Oakdale and St. Paul. Her vehicle had a window broken while it was parked near East Ridge High School.

Exterior light fixtures valued at $100 total were broken at a home at the 3200 block of Churchill Road.

Vulgar words were written inside the tunnel near Powers Lake, which the caller said has been an ongoing problem in the area. Police received the call on July 2.

A Woodbury man was injured in a single-car crash near Interstates 94 and 494 after he fell asleep at the wheel on July 2.

Police were called about a burning complaint at the 8800 block of Inverness Road on July 2. Police gave the homeowner a verbal warning and informed him to obtain a burning permit next time.

A GPS device and cell phone charger were reported stolen from a vehicle at the 1600 block of Thornhill Court on July 3.

Two women fled from Justice on July 3 with nearly $800 in merchandise on July 3. Employees did not get a license plate number of the car they left in and police could not located the women.

A vehicle parked at Woodwinds Health Campus was reported scratched on July 5.
