Woodbury PD Blotter: May 5-10

Police recently responded to reports of theft, burglary, road rage and a sick cat.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

A resident at the 11000 block of Middleton Trail called police on May 5 to report that a sick cat was under her deck. Police, who could not locate the animal, told her to call the Humane Society and install a fence or barrier along the opening of her deck. She told police she would call back if she saw it again.

Police were called to the 8600 block of Quarry Ridge Lane on May 5 after a verbal altercation ensued when a repo man was trying to take possession of a vehicle. The residents were initially cooperative but began yelling and threatening the man, and became physically aggressive. Police were able to mediate the situation.

A woman at the 7000 block of Sherwood Road called police on May 6 because she believed her ex-boyfriend had tapped her home phone line. Police discussed her concerns and determined it was likely a faulty handset phone.

Police were called to the 3500 block of Tara Lane on May 6 after appeared that a fire hydrant had been running for three hours. Police arrived to find that a resident was draining his pool.

A resident at the 10300 block of Lancaster Cove requested extra patrols in her neighborhood after she believed she had been followed home on May 6. She had recently broken up with her boyfriend, who was possibly involved in drugs and had an outstanding drug debt.

A resident at the 9500 block of Hillingdon Road called police on May 6 after his mailbox, and that of a neighbor, were vandalized.

Police were called to the 6800 block of Ashwood Road on May 6 on a report that someone was smoking marijuana in the hallway of the apartment building. Police arrived but did not smell any marijuana.

A resident at the 3600 block of Bailey Ridge Drive contacted police on May 7 after a home was egged and a golf ball was thrown at the house. The caller requested extra patrols in the area.

Police were called about a road rage incident at Interstate 94 and Radio Drive on May 7. The caller told police that a small red vehicle had tried to run her off the road and had a gun. Police tracked down the vehicle, and the driver said both parties were acting inappropriately. He confessed to flicking a cigarette at the other driver and said the caller flipped him “the bird.” No weapon was found.

An employee at JCPenny was busted on May 7 for selling $362.18 in merchandise to a friend for $40.92. The juvenile employee got 16 hours of community service.

While on routine patrol on May 7, a Woodbury officer noticed a tree had been toilet-papered at Shawnee Park. The matter was referred to the city’s Public Works Department.

A horse got loose from parcel at the 11000 block of Bailey Road on May 8. By the time police arrive the horse had been corralled. The owner said he would have the fence fixed.

Police were called to the Extended StayAmerica Hotel on May 8 after a customer became unruly and refused to pay his $52.50 bill. Police helped the man move his belongings from the room and transported him to a hotel in Maplewood.

Police were called to the Target on Commerce Drive on May 8 after an employee there was caught putting $50 on a gift card without paying.

A $200 GPS device was reported stolen from a vehicle at the 6300 block of Aspenwood Plaza on May 8.

CDs and $10 in cash were reported stolen from a vehicle at the 2100 block of St. Johns Court on May 9. The interior of the vehicle was ransacked.

Police were called about a white pickup truck driving all over the road and passing on the shoulder near the intersection of Radio Drive and Bailey Road on May 9.

An $88 dual-monitor DVD player and Pinocchio DVD were reported stolen from a vehicle at the 10700 block of Thone Road on May 9. The unlocked vehicle was parked in a driveway.

A resident at the 6000 block of Woodbine Avenue called police on May 9 after he found that someone had charged $1,146 on his debit card. The 12 charges occurred May 6-7.

An unoccupied home at the 2200 block of Tower Court was burglarized last week. The caller told police he and his wife were renting the home from his in-laws and they were in the process of moving out. A neighbor called him to say that the front door had been left open. Nothing was missing but several items were moved around. Some vodka was missing from a bottle, some food may have been eaten and the heat had been turned up to 90 degrees.

Police were called to the parking lot of Fantastic Sams on Hudson Road on May 9 after he spotted a few young men trying to break into his car with a thin metal device that was bout two feet long. The man ran out to his vehicle; the men fled the scene and police were unable to locate them.

A $650 cell phone was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Akita Sushi on May 9.

A green 1997 GMC Jimmy was reported stolen from a resident at the 6100 block of Garbe Avenue on May 10. The theft happened sometime the night before. The keys were in the vehicle, which has a major gas tank leak and the owner does not drive it. Police also received several calls of vehicle break-ins in the Woodbury Heights area that night.

A DVD player and two monitors, along with other items, were reported stolen on May 10 from a vehicle at the 10200 block of City Walk Drive. The owner hadn’t used the vehicle for some time and was unsure when the theft took place.

A resident at the 7500 block of Ojibway Park Bay called police on May 10 after he thought he heard gunshots in the area. Public Works crews were working on trees in the area and said they caused the sounds.

Someone attempted to steal a gas grill from a home at the 8800 block of Springwood Drive on May 10. The grill had been taken to a path and the owner figured it was too heavy to move.

A resident called police on May 10 after finding that a picnic table and skateboard ramp at Ojibway Park were defaced with gang signs and profane language.

Police were called to the TCF Bank on Currell Boulevard on May 10 about possible lewd conduct. An employee there thought a man was masturbating while glancing at the bank’s service windows.

Two rooms in a home at the 2200 block of Tower Court were ransacked on May 10. Nothing was stolen.
