Woodbury PD Blotter: Mustard Missing, Facebook Fight, Raccoon Roundup

Selected calls to the Woodbury Police Department from Oct. 20-25.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

Oct. 20

A man who lives at the 6700 block of Buckingham Bay contacted police after two doses of methadone were stolen from his car.

A Blackberry was reported stolen from a home at the 600 block of Woodduck Drive.

A employee was seen on surveillance video breaking into a vending machine at the store after the machine’s owner noticed it was short on money for the past several months. The man no longer works at the store. The machine’s owner requested assistance in impressing upon the subject that he needs to “change his ways,” according to the report.

A woman who was suspected of shoplifting nearly $250 worth of items at resisted arrest and was cited for theft and obstructing the legal process. She was also issued a trespass notice for the grocery store.

The CEO of a local bank called police after someone spray-painted “I am back (expletive) more to come” on his garage. The man told police that he and his wife have previously received death threats through the mail. He also told police that if confronted by the perpetrator, he may take matters into his own hands. Police said they would make extra patrols in the area.

Oct. 21

Police responded to a call about an attempted theft from a vehicle parked at the when another resident approached officers and said her vehicle was broken into and someone stole her purse. Police learned that two of that victim’s credit cards were used at multiple locations and authorities were able to get a description of the female suspect and her vehicle.

A possibly counterfeit $100 bill was passed at . Police contacted the man who used the bill, which he said he got when he cashed his check at a St. Paul Wal-Mart. The bill had a 1977 mint date and lacked modern security features.

A mother came into the Woodbury to turn over marijuana she found in her stepson’s room.

A dumpster caught fire at the 9000 block of Plymouth Road. The Woodbury Fire Department put it out.

Oct. 22

Police were called to the hotel after receiving complaints of about 10 women fighting in a room. One woman was apparently quite upset but there was no physical altercation. Police issued warnings but made no arrests.

Several pumpkins were smashed in the area of the 9000 block of Hillingdon Road. One mailbox was broken, and there was other property damage in the area, as well.

A Pepsi vending machine caught fire at ; an employee was able to extinguish it before authorities arrived.

A resident called police after she got into a dispute with a employee and later found that one of the tires on her car had been slashed.

A bottle of vodka was reported stolen from Short Stop Wine & Spirits. Police were able to locate and cite the perpetrators.

A group of juveniles was busted for shoplifting at .

Oct. 23

The rear driver’s-side window of a vehicle was broken at Rainbow Foods but nothing was taken.

A home at the 10700 block of Watersedge Lane was egged. The home was also the victim of a ding-dong ditch.

Police were called about an ongoing issue involving two workers. One individual told police that his coworker said “I’m going to kill you.” She also bragged that her boyfriend carries knives and beats up random people at bars.

A bottle of mustard and a jar of “marshmallow fluff” were stolen from a refrigerator in a home at the 6000 block of Tahoe Place. Someone gained entry via an unlocked sliding kitchen window. The items were found on the lawn. Nothing else was stolen. Prints were lifted from the window.

Oct. 24

For the second time in two months, a resident’s property at the 10100 block of Waterfront Drive was egged. This time it was her vehicle. The caller has two high school children. The brand of eggs, Pearl Valley, was unique, the homeowner told police. Authorities checked area gas stations to see if they sold the brand; they do not.

Oct. 25

Two jars of change and a jar of Kennedy half-dollars and a Game Boy were reported stolen from a home at the 2600 block of Windsor Lane. The suspect apparently tried to pry open a door. No other items of value were taken. Police checked nearby establishments to see if someone had made purchases with half-dollars; workers reported no one had.

A resident at the 2000 block of Woodbridge Way called police after her son received threatening messages via Facebook, including “I’m gonna burn your house down. … I’ll cut off your head.” Police left a message for the person who left the threats and told him that if it continued criminal charges would be pursued.

Raccoons

A resident at the 9400 block of Dale Road reported a sick raccoon sleeping next to her back door on Oct. 23. Police found it to be aggressive and not sick. It was transported to a nearby park without further incident.

A resident at the 1100 block of Kenilworth Drive called police about a sick raccoon in her front yard on Oct. 24. Police found that the animal did not appear to be sick and officers were unable to capture the raccoon, which climbed up a tree. Later that day a resident at the same block called police about a sick raccoon, which was captured and dispatched.
