Woodbury Police: ‘Amazing’ That Driver Not Seriously Injured in Rollover Crash on Bailey Road

The crash happened Saturday afternoon at Settlers Ridge Parkway.

A juvenile male was ejected from the SUV he was driving in a rollover crash Saturday in Woodbury, but he came away from it relatively unscathed.

“Remarkably, not bad,” Woodbury Police Sgt. Neil Bauer said of the boy’s condition.

The driver wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time, and Bauer said it was “amazing” that the boy wasn’t hurt more severely. He was hospitalized, however, with minor injuries.

Police got the call about a single-car crash along Bailey Road at Settlers Ridge Parkway at 3:26 p.m. Saturday, Bauer said.

The Ford Explorer was heading west on Bailey when the boy, an Oakdale resident, apparently swerved to miss another vehicle, Bauer said. The SUV rolled several times and ended up in a nearby field.

The crash remains under investigation and there is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role, Bauer said.

Despite the fact that the driver wasn’t seriously hurt, Bauer said people should always wear a seatbelt.

“If you stay in the car, you’re a lot better off,” he said.

No reason not to wear a seat belt. This could have been much worse.
