Woodbury Police Arrest Man Suspected In String Of Break-ins

The St. Paul man who was arrested Thursday morning is thought to be involved in several vehicle break-ins in the area.

Thursday morning arrested a 24-year-old St. Paul man who authorities believe is responsible for several recent vehicle break-ins in the area.

The man has yet to be charged, said Cmdr. Jay Alberio of the Woodbury Police Department, but he is a suspect in vehicle and garage break-ins in Woodbury, Oakdale, Maplewood, Newport and St. Paul.

Reports are expected to be forwarded to the Washington County Attorney’s Office Friday for possible charges of theft from motor vehicle, third-degree burglary and possession of stolen property, Alberio said Thursday.

The man was arrested near the intersection of Century Avenue and Glen Road the morning of Thursday, Dec. 22. Police received a call about a man tampering with a motor vehicle and apprehended him. There was also a stolen vehicle recovered from the area, Alberio said.

While investigators believe the man was involved in recent thefts, they will be looking through previous reports to determine if he can be linked to other cases as well.
