Find Your Polling Place, Candidates, Sample Ballots: Woodbury Voters Guide

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6, and there are several things to take note of before casting your ballot. 

Redistricting changed polling places for some voters. To find your polling place, visit the Secretary of State’s website. 

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. If you haven’t yet registered to vote, same-day registration is available. Here’s how to do it.

Also, a local election judge contacted Patch to remind people that curbside voting is available for disabled people. 

“They just need to send someone in and two election judges of different parties will bring out the paperwork and a ballot that they can mark in the car,” said Mark Sobotka. “As an election judge, every election we have loyal patriotic voters make heroic efforts to walk into the polling place, only to find out that we offer a curbside voting option.”

Along with the president and one U.S. Senate seat, voters in Woodbury will elect their new 4th District representative for Congress—along with state Senate and House and Woodbury City Council.

Woodbury City Council

In 2010, more than 20 people ran for Woodbury City Council. The slate is a little more manageable this year, with five candidates vying for two seats.

Incumbents Paul Rebholz and Amy Scoggins are both shooting for a third term on the council. The challengers are Mark Doree, Joe Grinols and Mike Thissen.

Senate District 53

The newly redrawn Senate District 53 includes all of Woodbury, which leaders in both parties said was a good thing.

GOP Sen. Ted Lillie moved from Lake Elmo to run in the new district, where he faces DFLer Susan Kent.

House District 53B

Incumbent Andrea Kieffer, a Republican, is taking on Ann Marie Metzger.

The upper northwest portion of Woodbury lies in District 53A.

Washington County Board

Woodbury is now represented by three seats on the Washington County Board, though the bulk of the city rests in District 5.

In District 5, incumbent Lisa Weik is taking on Nancy Remakel.
