Winter Parking Rules, Adopt a Fire Hydrant: Reminders from Woodbury Public Works

David Jessup, Public Works director, talked about how people can make things easier on crews this winter.

The city’s winter parking regulations are in effect, and despite the lack of snow thus far this season, people are encouraged to adopt a fire hydrant. 

Those were a couple of seasonal reminders Woodbury Public Works Director David Jessup issued at last week’s City Council meeting.

Meanwhile, the city asks people to shovel out the area around fire hydrants.

People need not notify the city of the hydrant they have adopted. It’s an informal volunteer program the city has encouraged for several years. For more information contact the Public Works Department at 651-714-3720 or email publicworks@ci.woodbury.mn.us.

Jessup also reminded residents to remove obstructions—portable basketball hoops for example—to make way for city plows.

He also asked parents to make sure youngsters don’t build snow forts near the curb.
